Der Motor (13) des Hauptantriebes (7) ist auf konstante, dem gewahlten Vorschub entsprechende Drehzahl geregelt, wahrend der Hilfsantrieb (14) mit Schlupf auf den Schweisdraht (4) einwirkt. Der Motor (19) des Hilfsantriebes (14) ist ebenfalls auf konstante Drehzahl geregelt, wobei jedoch die Drehzahlregelung der Antriebe (7,14) regeltechnisch auf Beibehaltung einer bestimmten Differenz der Fordergeschwindigkeiten verbunden sind.
