Microencapsulation technology is being more and more applied in the textile industry because microcapsules can confer additional properties to conventional fabrics. In this context, polysulfone microcapsules containing vanillin were prepared, and their morphology, thermal stability, and antibacterial properties against Staphylococcus aureus were assessed. The microcapsules were fabricated onto 100% cotton fabrics by a coating technique. The resistance of the coating to several washing cycles was studied, and the durability of the aromatic finishing was determined. Capsules were stable in the range between 20 and 100 °C, and they inhibited the growth of the bacteria at 37 °C for, at least, one week. Most of the capsules added to the fabric were flushed away between the first and second washing cycle; however, some capsules were still observed after the fifth washing. Polysulfone/Vanillin Microcapsules for Antibacterial and Aromatic Finishing of Fabrics

Zahtjevi današnjice nameću sve veću potražnju za inovativnim i viskoučinkovitim tekstilijama koje mogu olakšati i poboljšati stil života. Iz razloga što su kozmetički proizvodi široko dostupni te dodatno što njihova primjena ponekad zahtijeva izdvajanje puno vremena, proizašla je ideja o jednostavnoj aplikaciji kozmetičkih proizvoda na tekstil. Način vezanja tekstila i kozmetičkog sredstva omogućava kontrolirano otpuštanje kozmetičkog sredstva s tekstila. Svrha obrade je postići otpuštanje aktivnih tvari u željenom trenutku ili određenom vremenskom razdoblju uz istovremeno postizanje zadovoljavajuće postojanosti na pranje. Pritom je kemizam otpuštanja problematika kojoj treba posvetiti posebnu pažnju. U ovom radu je detaljnije opisan pojam kozmetičkog tekstila ili kozmetotekstilija, prikazana je njihova podjela, namjena, a dodatno je obrađena i problematika otpuštanja aktivnih tvari i postojanosti obrade. Na kraju je dan osvrt na moguće smjerove razvoja ove sve popularnije završne obrade tekstilnih materijala kojima tekstil dobiva dodatna svojstva i postaje proizvod visoke vrijednosti. U radu je dan pregled materijala s promjenom faza, engl. Phase Change Materials - PCM. Opisane su tehnike nanosenja ovih materijala na tekstilni supstrat, s posebnim osvrtom na mikrokapsulaciju. Prikazane su kemijsko-analiticke metode koje se koriste kod ispitivanja materijala s promjenom faza. U zavrsnom dijelu prikazane su perspektive i glavni problemi koji se javljaju u primjeni materijala s promjenom faze u tekstilstvu.

Application of Phase Change Materials(PCM) in textiles

Melamine formaldehyde microcapsules containing the triphenyl phosphate (TPP) were produced by in-situ polymerization. The microcapsules were applied onto 100% cotton fabric by screen-printing. The influence of applied microcapsules on flame-retarding and thermal properties of cotton fabric was evaluated. For comparison a commercial organophosphite flame-retarding agent was used and applied onto cotton fabric by impregnation. The flame retarding behavior as well as thermal stability of printed fabrics were valued with the LOI and the TGA analyses before and after one laundering cycle. The morfology of fabric surfaces was observed using the SEM.
