I-beam to box–column connection by a vertical plate passing through the column
TL;DR: In this article, a new easy-to-fabricate moment connection is proposed for connecting I-beams to box-columns, which consists of a vertical plate passing through the column and welded to the column flanges, and beams connected to the plate named the Through Plate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Moment-connection between I-beam and built-up square column by a diagonal through plate
TL;DR: In this article, a beam-to-box-column connection, called a diagonal through-plate connection, is presented to provide a new load path different from that of conventional connections and to facilitate the construction process of the connection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experimental study of a replaceable steel coupling beam with an end-plate connection
TL;DR: In this paper, a different type of replaceable steel coupling beam with end-plate connection was investigated to enhance the post-damage repair capability of the hybrid coupled shear wall systems, in which the coupling beams were not embedded into the walls to minimize the post event repair/replacement difficulties and expenses.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Numerical Evaluation of Through Plate Beam to Box Column Connection
TL;DR: In this article, the seismic behavior of through-plates moment connections to box columns for use in steel moment resisting frames is investigated, and the results of finite element analysis established the effectiveness of the through plate in mitigating local stress concentrations and forming the plastic hinge zone in the beam away from the beam to column interface.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Numerical Evaluation of New Reduced Beam Section Moment Connection
TL;DR: In this paper, a new reduced beam section (RBS) connection with corrugated plate webs instead of beam flange cutting was used in limited specific length near the column face.
