Shuffled frog-leaping algorithm: a memetic meta-heuristic for discrete optimization
TL;DR: Experimental results in terms of the likelihood of convergence to a global optimal solution and the solution speed suggest that the SFLA can be an effective tool for solving combinatorial optimization problems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Locating Satellite Booster Disinfectant Stations
TL;DR: In this article, an integer linear programming optimization problem is posed to determine booster locations and their injection rates, assuming that first order reaction kinetics apply to chlorine decay, and the formulation avoids long water quality simulations by adding constraints requiring the concentrations at the beginning and end of the design period to be the same.

Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Water Utility Operations and Vulnerability
Emily Zechman Berglund,Steven G. Buchberger,M. P. da Cunha,Kasey M. Faust,Marcio Giacomoni,Erfan Goharian,Yehuda Kleiner,Juneseok Lee,Avi Ostfeld,Fayzul Pasha,Jorge E. Pesantez,Juan Saldarriaga,Ehsan Shafiee,Lauryn A. Spearing,J. E. van Zyl,Y. C. Ethan Yang +15 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors report on how the operations of 27 water utilities worldwide were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and survey questions focused on the effects of the pandemic on water system operation, demand, revenues, system vulnerabilities, and the use and development of emergency response plans.
