Egg capsules of the dusky catshark Bythaelurus canescens (Carcharhiniformes, Scyliorhinidae) from the south‐eastern Pacific Ocean

TL;DR: The external morphology of the egg capsule of Bythaelurus canescens and its fixation to the substratum are described, revealing the presence of longitudinal ridges and long coiled tendrils at both anterior and posterior ends of the capsule.
Journal ArticleDOI

Egg capsules of the yellownose skate Zearaja chilensis (Guichenot 1848) and the roughskin skate Dipturus trachyderma (Krefft and Stehmann 1974) (Rajiformes: Rajidae) from the south-eastern Pacific Ocean

TL;DR: This is the first report on egg-laying rate of Z. chilensis and D. trachyderma from the south-eastern Pacific Ocean and the first description of egg capsules of both species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reproductive biology of Zearaja chilensis (Chondrichthyes: Rajidae) in the south-east Pacific Ocean.

TL;DR: Although the largest Z. chilensis captured by the artisanal fishery was 155 cm L(T) , 89% of landings comprised relatively small, immature fish, which may compromise the stock integrity if intrinsic vulnerability and probable long-life span of Z. Chilensis are considered.
Journal ArticleDOI

Redescription and taxonomic status of Dipturus chilensis (Guichenot, 1848), and description of Dipturus lamillai sp. nov. (Rajiformes: Rajidae), a new species of long-snout skate from the Falkland Islands

TL;DR: Comparisons of morphological comparisons of specimens from the coasts of both western and eastern South America indicate that Zearaja is synonymized with Dipturus and species assigned to the former genus are transferred to the latter genus, and this species is redescribed.

Egg capsules of the raspthorn sandskate, Psammobatis scobina (Philippi, 1857) (Rajiformes, Rajidae) Cápsulas ovígeras de la raya pequén, Psammobatis scobina (Philippi, 1857) (Rajiformes, Rajidae)

TL;DR: In this paper, the first descripcion of the capsulas ovigeras of P. scobina was performed in Chile, and the results showed that the caradorsal is convexa con respecto a la ventral, the cuernosanteriores are mas cortos que los posteriores, se orientan haciael interior and se estrechan hasta adquirir forma de zarcillos hacialas puntas.
