Journal ArticleDOI
Infection by Leishmania infantum in cats: epidemiological study in Spain.
Joaquina Martín-Sánchez,C. Acedo,M. Muñoz-Pérez,Bernard Pesson,O. Marchal,Francisco Morillas-Márquez +5 more
TL;DR: The results makes the value of conventional serological methods to detect active Leishmania infection in cats doubt, and production of antibodies against the parasite appears to be compromised in cats with leukemia, which have a prevalence of 36% in this study.
Journal ArticleDOI
ITS 2 sequences heterogeneity in Phlebotomus sergenti and Phlebotomus similis (Diptera, Psychodidae): possible consequences in their ability to transmit Leishmania tropica.
Jérôme Depaquit,Hubert Ferté,Nicole Léger,Fabienne Lefranc,Carlos Alves-Pires,Hanafi A. Hanafi,Michele Maroli,Francisco Morillas-Márquez,Jean-Antoine Rioux,Milena Svobodová,Petr Volf +10 more
TL;DR: The results confirm the validity of the taxa morphologically characterised, and imply the revision of their distribution areas, and seem to be well supported by high degree of variation observed in the present study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sandflies of the Phlebotomus perniciosus complex: mitochondrial introgression and a new sibling species of P. longicuspis in the Moroccan Rif.
Bernard Pesson,Jonathan Stuart Ready,I. Benabdennbi,Joaquina Martín-Sánchez,S Esseghir,S Esseghir,M. Cadi-Soussi,Francisco Morillas-Márquez,Paul D. Ready +8 more
TL;DR: The discovery of interspecific gene introgression and a new sibling species of P. longicuspis from Morocco mean that previous records of the two morphospecies do not necessarily reflect their true vectorial roles or geographical and ecological distributions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Toscana Virus in Spain
Sara Sanbonmatsu-Gámez,Mercedes Pérez-Ruiz,Ximena Collao,María Paz Sánchez-Seco,Francisco Morillas-Márquez,Manuel de la Rosa-Fraile,José María Navarro-Marí,Antonio Tenorio +7 more
TL;DR: At least 2 virus lineages are circulating in the Mediterranean basin and at least one of them is known to cause infectious disease in humans and animals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Canine leishmaniasis in southeastern Spain.
Joaquina Martín-Sánchez,Manuel Morales-Yuste,C. Acedo-Sanchez,S. D. Barón,Victoriano Díaz,Francisco Morillas-Márquez +5 more
TL;DR: Seroprevalence had increased at the meso-Mediterranean bioclimatic level over 22 years, and risk of canine leishmaniasis was highest for dogs that were older, large, lived outside, and lived at the MesaMediterranean level.
