Journal ArticleDOI
Liquefaction-induced structures in Quaternary alluvial gravels and gravelly sediments, NE Brazil
Francisco H.R. Bezerra,Vanildo Pereira da Fonseca,Claudio Vita-Finzi,Francisco Pinheiro Lima-Filho,Allaoua Saadi +4 more
TL;DR: The authors identified numerous well-preserved elutriation and fluidization structures probably induced by liquefaction in Quaternary gravels and gravelly sediments of braided fluvial channel deposits in the Rio Grande do Norte and Ceara states of Brazil.
Journal ArticleDOI
The use of apatite fission track thermochronology to constrain fault movements and sedimentary basin evolution in northeastern Brazil
M.A. da Nóbrega,J.M. Sá,Francisco H.R. Bezerra,J.C. Hadler Neto,P.J. Iunes,Sandro Guedes,C.A. Tello Saenz,Peter Christian Hackspacher,Francisco Pinheiro Lima-Filho +8 more
TL;DR: An apatite fission track study of crystalline rocks underlying sedimentary basins in northeastern Brazil indicate that crustal blocks that occur on opposite sides of a geological fault experienced different thermal histories.
Journal ArticleDOI
Holocene coastal tectonics in NE Brazil
Francisco H.R. Bezerra,Francisco Pinheiro Lima-Filho,Ricardo Farias do Amaral,Luciano Henrique de Oliveira Caldas,Leão X. Costa-Neto +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors identified two beachrock facies in NE Brazil which can be used as reliable sea-level indicators, i.e., Facies (a) represents the lower foreshore and the upper shoreface, being mainly characterized by coarse unsorted sandstones with trough cross-stratification, whereas facies (b) corresponds to sediments deposited on the middle to lower foreshores and is usually characterized by medium to coarse, better sorted sandstones which form seaward-dipping, swash cross beds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sea-level rise since 8.2ka recorded in the sediments of the Potengi-Jundiai Estuary, NE Brasil
Tomasz Boski,Fracisco H.R. Bezerra,Laura Pereira,Anderson de Medeiros Souza,Rubson Pinheiro Maia,Francisco Pinheiro Lima-Filho +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the first data set on the evolution and Holocene infilling of the Potengi River Estuary at the NE Brazilian Continental Margin near the city of Natal.
Journal ArticleDOI
3-D geometry and luminescence chronology of Quaternary soft-sediment deformation structures in gravels, northeastern Brazil
Elissandra N. Moura-Lima,Francisco H.R. Bezerra,Francisco Pinheiro Lima-Filho,David Lopes de Castro,Maria O.L. Sousa,Vanildo Pereira da Fonseca,Milena Rocha de Aquino +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe soft-sediment deformation in gravels and gravelly sediments in Quaternary alluvial deposits of the Potiguar Basin, northeastern Brazil.
