The field of supply chain management has been extensively studied, while its role in disaster relief operations has received limited contributions. Recent dedicated special issues on Humanitarian Operations and Supply Chain Management (HOSCM) and a dedicated Journal focusing on humanitarian logistics and supply chain management clearly indicate the growing popularity of the HOSCM literature. The purpose of our current study is to undertake an extensive review of extant literature published in operations and supply chain management journals as well as popular interdisciplinary journals. A review of 362 papers published between 2011 and 2017 provides a thematic outline of the study. The study pivots around nine key themes, which have gained prominent attention from HOSCM scholars, and draws a roadmap from reviewing earlier review papers to performance evaluation of HOSCM related studies. Some of the key themes include humanitarian logistics, theory focused research, case studies, mathematical models, humanitarian supply chain properties and resources needed for efficient and effective management of humanitarian operations. Finally, our study offers several research directions which may take the existing debates to a next level.

Humanitarian supply chain management: a thematic literature review and future directions of research

Purpose – This paper aims to identify the state of the art of performance measurement and management in humanitarian supply chains; to categorize performance measurement indicators in the five supply chain phases of Gunasekaran and Kobu (2007) and evaluate them based on the evaluation criteria of Caplice and Sheffi (1995); and to define gaps and challenges in this field and give insights for future research in this domain. Humanitarian supply chain performance management: a systematic literature review

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the way strategic approach to business process management (BPM) impacts organizational performance, both its financial and non‐financial aspects, using empirical data from Croatian firms. The impact of strategic approach to BPM on process performance measurement (PPM) is examined as well.Design/methodology/approach – A questionnaire survey was conducted on a sample of 194 manufacturing and service firms in Croatia and propositions were tested using a structural equation model with SAS software.Findings – The results suggest that PPM practice is positively related to strategic approach to BPM. Context Business process modeling is an essential part of understanding and redesigning the activities that a typical enterprise uses to achieve its business goals The quality of a business process model has a significant impact on the development of any enterprise and IT support for that process Objective Since the insights on what constitutes modeling quality are constantly evolving, it is unclear whether research on business process modeling quality already covers all major aspects of modeling quality Therefore, the objective of this research is to determine the state of the art on business process modeling quality: What aspects of process modeling quality have been addressed until now and which gaps remain to be covered? Method We performed a systematic literature review of peer reviewed articles as published between 2000 and August 2013 on business process modeling quality To analyze the contributions of the papers we use the Formal Concept Analysis technique Results We found 72 studies addressing quality aspects of business process models These studies were classified into different dimensions: addressed model quality type, research goal, research method, and type of research result Our findings suggest that there is no generally accepted framework of model quality types Most research focuses on empirical and pragmatic quality aspects, specifically with respect to improving the understandability or readability of models Among the various research methods, experimentation is the most popular one The results from published research most often take the form of intangible knowledge Conclusion We believe there is a lack of an encompassing and generally accepted definition of business process modeling quality This evidences the need for the development of a broader quality framework capable of dealing with the different aspects of business process modeling quality Different dimensions of business process quality and of the process of modeling still require further research

A systematic literature review of studies on business process modeling quality

Supporting performance management with business process management and business intelligence: A case analysis of integration and orchestration

– The purpose of this paper is to analyze the current state of the art and trends with regard to business process measurement by means of a systematic review of literature., – The results are obtained through a systematic review carried out according to existing relevant guidelines. Additionally, a specific methodology through which to systematically obtain all the most important journals is followed. In total, 19 relevant articles are selected and later analyzed. A subsequent critical analysis of the data obtained is applied to identify the gaps in the current literature., – A considerable effort has been made by researchers in the field of business process measurement, particularly in recent years. Many of the defined measures for business processes have been applied to models (approximately 77 per cent). Most of the initiatives concerning business measurement have been adapted from the software engineering field. A small percentage of the existing business process measures has been empirically validated., – The results presented contribute towards providing an updated overview of the current state of research into business process measurement, in order to identify existing research gaps and concerns on which ongoing and future research efforts on this topic can be focused.

Measurement in business processes: a systematic review

SUMMARY In this paper we present MANTOOL, an automatic tool for managing the software maintenance process according to MANTEMA, a rigorous methodology for maintenance. After explaining briefly the MANTEMA structure, the article explains how MANTOOL allows users to manage modification requests following the different stages of the methodology, showing it with some examples. The data saved in MANTOOL can be used to extract different kinds of reports and to do estimations of future maintenance interventions. The paper also includes some experience reports about the construction and application of MANTEMA and MANTOOL, and some reflections on the benefits of its use. This paper makes a proposal for a taxonomy of boundary changes in Spanish municipalities along time. The different types of changes are organized in a hierarchy, as well as represented in a homogeneous manner, independently of the number of municipalities involved and of the changes suffered. Each alteration is described in a precise and unambiguous way, and it is codified to permit an automatic treatment of the information. In addition to an efficient treatment of the information about municipal changes, a normalized representation facilitates the automatic detection of inconsistencies in public databases. At the same time, the taxonomy allow us to define backward and forward equivalence rules, that helps in the task of generating homogeneous time series about municipal characteristics, like population or surface. Eventually, we offer an application of the proposal to inconsistencies and error detection in the database: Municipal Changes in Population Census from 1842 from the Spanish National Statistical Institute (INE). El presente trabajo realiza una propuesta de categorizacion de las alteraciones y cambios en los municipios espanoles a lo largo del tiempo. Los tipos de cambio se organizan jerarquicamente y se representan de una manera homogenea, valida para todas las situaciones posibles, independientemente del numero de municipios afectados y de los cambios que sufren. Cada alteracion se describe de forma precisa e inequivoca, y se codifica de manera que permita un tratamiento automatico. Ademas de un tratamiento eficiente de la informacion, la representacion normalizada de las alteraciones facilita la deteccion automatica de incoherencias en los repositorios publicos existentes. Al mismo tiempo, la categorizacion ha permitido definir reglas de equivalencia hacia delante y hacia atras en el tiempo, para guiar la generacion de series homogeneas de caracteristicas municipales, como poblacion o superficie. Finalmente, se ofrecen los resultados de la aplicacion de la propuesta a la deteccion de inconsistencias en la base de datos de Alteraciones de los Municipios en los Censos de Poblacion desde 1842 del Instituto Nacional de Estadistica (INE). Taxonomía y representación de los cambios en los municipios españoles

En la tesis se implementan varias tecnicas de modulacion PWM recientes en la literatura cientifica para el control de variadores de frecuencia y se analiza su efecto sobre el Nivel de Presion Sonora generado por el motor asincrono cuando es alimentado a traves de dichos dispositivos electronicos, demostrandose que es mejor que cuando se utilizan tecnicas clasicas de modulacion con frecuencia portadora constante. Tambien se disena una nueva tecnica de modulacion especifica y se demuestra la reduccion en la emision acustica respecto a las anteriores. En todas las tecnicas usadas el objetivo ha sido doble: por un lado, la reduccion del Nivel de Presion Sonora emitido y el control de la calidad de la senal para aminorar el estres termico sobre el convertidor de potencia y sobre el motor. Las estrategias de control usadas son de tipo generadas por lo que son de facil implementacion, tienen en comun la modificacion de la frecuencia de las bandas laterales de la frecuencia de conmutacion del inversor del variador de frecuencia.
