Abstract: We develop a recursion method for the calculation of the logarithm of the transmission probability for an electron moving under the influence of a random potential in a system of N weakly coupled chains (a disordered wire). The method combines the Berezinskii diagram analysis in a modified form with the recursion idea. The general method providing in principle also an efficient computer algorithm is analytically evaluated for two chains in the weak scattering limit. Electron - phonon interaction is included into the recursion for one chain.
