The aim of this study was to evaluate the progression of arthritis in a complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA)-induced Wistar rat model and to monitor inflammatory arthritis activity using thermal imaging compared with histopathology.

Fifteen adult male Wistar rats werestudiedinanadjuvant-inducedarthritismodel by the injection of complete Freund’s adjuvant in the right hind limb and right fore-limb, respectively, with the left limbs used as controls. Thermal image analysis based on skin temperature measurement, radiograph-icanalysisbasedonerosion,limbcircumfer-ence measurement, and histopathological evaluation were performed.Results. The average skin temperature dif-ference on the arthritis-induced side and con-trol for both the forelimb and hind limb were found to be 1.09 °C and 0.98 °C, respective-ly. Pearson correlation analysis revealed that skin surface temperature was positively cor-related with the arthritis severity score (fore-limb: r=0.64, hind limb: r=0.66, p<0.05).A significant correlation also existed between thermal imaging temperature and visual scoring of X-ray (forelimb: r=0.56, hind limb: r=0.67,p<0.05).Conclusion. Thermal imaging measure-ments correlated with arthritis severity score, radiological score, and ankle diameters. Hence, thermography could be used to diag-nose and analyze inflammatory activity of ar-thritisatthepreclinicalstage.

This article is the result of the research carried out from the Master Degree in Education and its main objective was to analyze the insertion of the graduates of the Federal University's postgraduate programs in the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys in the professional market, as well as their trajectories and Perceptions. To enable the development of this research, I proposed to conduct a case study with a descriptive and exploratory methodology, with a qualitative approach, through a bibliographic study and the application and interviews. As data collection source, I was used the official records of the university related to the students in question and posteriorly it was applied an online questionnaire. The insertion of graduates in the labor market was mapped and possible gaps in their academic training were identified. The results of this research were presented in graphs, and show that the graduates of the programs are mainly located in the public sector and that the UFVJM fulfills its role as agent for professionals ready to enter the professional market, not only in the regions where is inserted, but in other states of Brazil and abroad. ___ O presente artigo e resultado da pesquisa realizada no programa de pos-graduacao em Educacao e teve como objetivo principal analisar a insercao dos egressos dos programas de pos-graduacao da Universidade Federal nos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri no mercado profissional, bem como suas trajetorias e percepcoes. Para viabilizar o desenvolvimento desta pesquisa, propus a realizar um estudo de caso, com metodologia descritiva e exploratoria, com enfoque qualitativo, por meio de estudo bibliografico e a aplicacao de questionario. Como fonte de coleta de dados, utilizei os registros oficiais da universidade referentes aos discentes em questao e, num segundo momento, apliquei questionario on-line. Foi mapeada a insercao dos egressos no mercado de trabalho e identificadas as possiveis lacunas na sua formacao academica. Os resultados dessa pesquisa foram apresentados em graficos, e mostram que os egressos dos programas encontram-se inseridos principalmente no setor publico e que a UFVJM cumpre seu papel como agente formador de profissionais prontos a serem inseridos no mercado profissional, nao so nas regioes nas quais se encontra inseridas, mas em outros estados do Brasil e no exterior.

The article approaches the use of a new diagnostic method for the objective assessment of functional disorders in patients with vascular diseases. This method, also known as high-sensitivity infrared skin thermometry, does not require any physical contact with the patient, is noninvasive and does not include a contrast medium. The authors describe the examination method, the necessary equipment, and the qualitative and quantitative evaluation parameters. The results of the examination allow the identification of vascular disorders, as well as of problems with the neuronal and musculoskeletal systems, inflammatory processes, dermatological, endocrine and oncological conditions. It permits us to assess the clinical prognosis and, consequently, solve medical problems more objectively.

Termometria cutânea: novos conceitos Skin thermometry: new concepts

The measurement of absolute temperatures on the surface of the human body using quantitative thermography allows this technique to be used in rheumatology, for the diagnosis and monitoring the course of inflammatory diseases of the locomotor system. The patient is exposed to a room temperature of 18 degrees C and the skin temperature measured over the joint for a defined area (region of interest). Inflamed joints show distinctly higher absolute temperatures than normal ones within the observation time of 40 minutes. Moreover, the skin over healthy joints cools faster and to a greater extent than skin over inflamed joints, whose temperatures remain the same or even rise minimally in more acute cases. Using two measurements, the determination of the absolute temperatures (static thermography), and the changes in these temperatures within a definite time interval (dynamic thermography) it is thus possible to establish a diagnosis of arthritis in the regions of the peripheral joints with the help of standardised nomograms with an accuracy of more than 90%, and to follow the course of the disease more exactly.
