Journal ArticleDOI
Behavioural change models for infectious disease transmission: a systematic review (2010-2015).
TL;DR: It is concluded that individual-level models are increasingly used and useful to model behaviour changes, despite recent advancements, that most models are purely theoretical and lack representative data and a validation process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Indications for healthcare surge capacity in European countries facing an exponential increase in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, March 2020.
TL;DR: Modelled by the intensity approach with a composite measure for healthcare capacity, the countries experiencing the highest pressure on 25 March 2020 - relative to Italy on 11 March - were Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and France.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lessons from a decade of individual-based models for infectious disease transmission: a systematic review (2006-2015)
Lander Willem,Frederik Verelst,Joke Bilcke,Niel Hens,Niel Hens,Philippe Beutels,Philippe Beutels +6 more
TL;DR: A decade of IBM publications is reviewed to obtain insights in their advantages, pitfalls and rationale for use and to make recommendations facilitating knowledge transfer within and across disciplines, which suggests IBMs are suited to combine heterogeneous within- and between-host interactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Individual decisions to vaccinate one's child or oneself: A discrete choice experiment rejecting free-riding motives
TL;DR: A Bayesian D-efficient discrete choice experiment in February-March 2017 to study vaccination behavior in 1919 Belgian respondents found that 'acceptors' were less sensitive to changes in the vaccine-preventable burden of disease for their child's vaccination choices (but not for themselves).
Journal ArticleDOI
SOCRATES-CoMix: a platform for timely and open-source contact mixing data during and in between COVID-19 surges and interventions in over 20 European countries.
Frederik Verelst,Lisa Hermans,Sarah Vercruysse,Amy Gimma,Pietro Coletti,Jantien A. Backer,Kerry L. M. Wong,James Wambua,Kevin van Zandvoort,Lander Willem,Laurens Bogaardt,Christel Faes,Christopher I Jarvis,Jacco Wallinga,W. John Edmunds,Philippe Beutels,Philippe Beutels,Niel Hens,Niel Hens +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors collected contact mixing behavior in various phases of the COVID-19 pandemic in over 20 European countries and provided these timely, repeated observations using an online platform: SOCRATES-CoMix.
