Journal ArticleDOI
Angiogenesis and vasculogenesis in pregnancy
TL;DR: Understanding of the different molecular and functional aspects of these two different processes, in particular, the self-limitation of the trophoblastic invasion and vessels formation during gestation might allow the establishment of new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of both tumor and pregnancy related pathology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of human chorionic gonadotropin as a novel angiogenic factor.
Marek Zygmunt,Friederike Herr,Stefanie Keller-Schoenwetter,Karin Kunzi-Rapp,Karsten Münstedt,C V Rao,U Lang,Klaus T. Preissner +7 more
TL;DR: The data indicate a novel function for hCG in uterine adaptation to early pregnancy as well as in tumor development and underline the importance of hCG as an as yet unrecognized angiogenic factor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Possible angiogenic roles of insulin-like growth factor II and its receptors in uterine vascular adaptation to pregnancy.
Friederike Herr,Olin D. Liang,Julio Herrero,U Lang,Klaus T. Preissner,Victor K. M. Han,Marek Zygmunt +6 more
TL;DR: The results suggest an important angiogenic role of IGF-II in the vascular adaptation to pregnancy and the application of several intracellular signal transduction molecules and their inhibitors indicated that protein kinase C and G(i) protein might play a role in the IGF- II-induced angiogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oncodevelopmental α-Fetoprotein Acts as a Selective Proangiogenic Factor on Endothelial Cell from the Fetomaternal Unit
Olin D. Liang,Thomas Korff,Jessica Eckhardt,Jasmin Rifaat,Nelli Baal,Friederike Herr,Klaus T. Preissner,Marek Zygmunt +7 more
TL;DR: Data indicate that AFP may act as a specific proangiogenic factor of endothelial cells within the fetomaternal unit during advanced stages in pregnancy.
