PURPOSE:To realize welding which is superior in cracking resistance, low and high temp. cracking and toughness without impairing welding workability by adding TiO2 and CaF2 at limited contents and ratio between both to a flux contg. CaCO3 in specific contg. CONSTITUTION:A flux for welding of large-sized structural steel, more particularly, high tensile steel plates, is formed of the compsn. consisting essentially, by weight, of >=15% CaCO3, 10-26% TiO2 and 3-7% CaF2, 2-5 TiO2/CaF2 and further contg. 10-15% SiO2, 10-26% Al2O3, 20-40% MgO, and >=1 kind among respectively 0.5-5% Fe, Si, Mn. Here, the TiO2 prevents low temp. cracking, and prevents the degradation in welding workability by CaCO3. The CaF2 solves the problem on hindrance of slag detachability by the CaO-TiO2 which is ought to coexist in the slag. Thus, good welding is accomplished without any problem in welding workability.

PURPOSE:To refine the molten metal at a high refining efficiency by a method wherein a sintered type flux having a specified CaO/Al2O3 ratio, a specified SiO2 content and a specified CaF2 content is added to the molten metal when refining the latter CONSTITUTION:The sintered type CaO-Al2O3-CaF2 based flux wherein CaO/ Al2O3=1-4, SiO2<15% and the CaF2 content is so specified as to satisfy the conditions represented by formuls I and II, is prepared The flux is blown into the molten metal, for instance, molten steel together with a carrier gas such as N2, AR or the like to refine the steel The said sintered type flux is prepared by using a smaller amount of heat as compared to the case of a molten type flux, and exhibits a much higher refining efficiency as compared to the case of a powder mixure type flux Namely, the sintered type flux exhibits high deoxidizing and desulfurizing ratios, and the respective reaction rates of its constituents are also high

According to the invention the method using filler materials (7) increase the fusion depth and hence even deep cracks (4) can be completely sealed.

PURPOSE:To secure the rotation of a plastic tube in the peripheral direction and to alleaviate unevenness in electron beam irradiation, by irradiating the plastic tube containing a core wire inserted thereinto with electron beams while rotating the tube in the peripheral direction between a pair of capstans. CONSTITUTION:A flame-resistant PE tube 4 is fed from the feed side by a guide roller 5 and crossed between capstans 1 and 2 and is led to the take-up side. Over the capstans 1 and 2, an electron irradiation apparatus 6 is placed so that the surface of the tube 4 is irradiated with electron beams 8 emitted from an accelerating tube 7 through a scanner 9. Into the tube 4 is inserted a core wire having a proper rigidity. The tube 4 gains a reaction force against the torsion of the core wire 10 in the course from the feeding of said tube from the feed side to the take-up of the tube on the take-up side and rotates in the peripheral direction in moving between the capstans 1 and 2 in the axial direction and accordingly the surface of the tube 4 can be uniformly irradiated with the electron beams 8 emitted from the irradiation apparatus 6.

Flux for welding of superalloys and repair welding method with filler metal

PURPOSE:Powder for continuous casting of steel, excellent in workability, without having the defect of slag patches, obtaining by granulating the raw material mainly composed of fine powdered glassy substance containing fluroides, alkali metal oxides by using inorganic or organic binder. CONSTITUTION:Powder containing 1-15wt. parts of fluorides, such as CaF2, BaF2, NaF, KF etc., as F content 1-15wt. parts of alkali metal oxides, such as Na2O, K2O, LiO2 etc., as alkali metals and more than 70% of powdered glassy component as indispensable component, is granulated. Melting temperature of the above glassy component is 800-1350 deg.C and more than 30wt% of fine powder having grain size less than 100 mesh, is contained, CoKe, SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3, alkali earth metal oxide or carbonate etc. are mixed with the above glassy component and the above mixture is granulated by inorganic binder, such as water glass etc., or organic binder, such as CMC etc., in the extent being the voids 0.4- 0.85 and then, the powder for continuous casting is obtained.
