A simple memristor-based chaotic circuit with an active flux-controlled memristor characterized by a smooth continuous cubic nonlinearity is designed. The proposed chaotic circuit can generate a 2-scroll chaotic attractor on a finite time scale and has an equilibrium set with its stability dependent on the initial state of the memristor. The complex dynamics of the proposed chaotic circuit under different initial state of the memristor are investigated both theoretically and numerically. In particular, some novel transient transition behaviors with different time scales are found in the memristor circuit. Experimental observations based on a universal circuit implementation platform are conducted to partially verify the numerical simulation results.

A simple memristor chaotic circuit with complex dynamics

This paper presents a new smooth memristor oscillator, which is derived from Chua's oscillator by replacing Chua's diode with a flux-controlled memristor and a negative conductance. Novel parameters and initial conditions are dependent upon dynamical behaviours such as transient chaos and stable chaos with an intermittence period and are found in the smooth memristor oscillator. By using dynamical analysis approaches including time series, phase portraits and bifurcation diagrams, the dynamical behaviours of the proposed memristor oscillator are effectively investigated in this paper.

Transient chaos in smooth memristor oscillator

This paper presents a new four-dimensional (4-D) smooth quadratic autonomous chaotic system, which can present periodic orbit, chaos, and hyper-chaos under the conditions on different parameters. Importantly, the system can generate a four-wing hyper-chaotic attractor and a pair of coexistent double-wing hyper-chaotic attractors with two symmetrical initial conditions. Furthermore, a four-wing transient chaos occurs in the system. The dynamic analysis approach- in the paper involves time series, phase portraits, Poincare maps, bifurcation diagrams, and Lyapunov exponents, to investigate some basic dynamical behaviors of the proposed 4-D system.

Hidden transient chaotic attractors of Rabinovich-Fabrikant system

The transient chaos regime in a two-dimensional system with discrete time (Eno map) is considered. It is demonstrated that a time series corresponding to this regime differs from a chaotic series constructed for close values of the control parameters by the presence of “nonregular” regions, the number of which increases with the critical parameter. A possible mechanism of this effect is discussed.
