The reliability of test results from simple test samples in predicting the fatigue performance of automotive components

TL;DR: In this article, the effects that gauge and material strength have on the fatigue performance of a fusion welded automotive suspension arm were investigated. And the results showed that with the application of modern technologies, such as tailor-welded blanks (TWB), significant weight savings can be achieved.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of a safety barrier connection joint post-testing

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of a full impact vehicle crash test on the joint material and the mechanical fasteners that form part of the safety barrier beam to beam connection joint was examined.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamic responses of connections in road safety barriers

TL;DR: In this paper, the stiffness characteristics of bolted road safety barrier connections have been examined with a representative test coupon that incorporates a full size safety barrier connection slot to industry standard dimensions, and the initial stiffness, maximum force and displacement of the bolted connections are similar to the finite element model predictions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluating fatigue performance of down gauged high strength steel suspension arm

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of various welding processes, gauge, and material strength on the fatigue performance of an automotive suspensionarm were investigated and the merits of both uniaxial constant amplitude and multiaxonial simulation testing have been studied.
