Journal ArticleDOI

The quasi-static and blast loading response of lattice structures

TL;DR: In this article, a range of metallic lattice structures have been manufactured using the selective laser melting (SLM) rapid manufacturing technique, and a series of blast tests were then undertaken on a ballistic pendulum in order to investigate the behavior of lattice structure under these extreme loading conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Deformation of thin plates subjected to impulsive loading—a review Part II: Experimental studies

TL;DR: In this paper, the theoretical predictions and experimental results on the deformation of thin plates subjected to impulsive loading were reviewed. But the experimental results were not discussed. And the experimental correlations between the deflection-thickness ratio and a function of impulse, plate geometry, plate dimensions and material properties were discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

The deformation and tearing of thin square plates subjected to impulsive loads—An experimental study

TL;DR: In this article, the results for clamped mild steel square plates subjected to impulsive loads are reported, and three phases of failure modes are identified: partial tearing, complete tearing, and complete tearing with increasing mid-point deformation.
Journal ArticleDOI

The deformation and tearing of thin circular plates subjected to impulsive loads

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the failure of circular plates subjected to impulsive velocities and provided an energy balance equation relating input, deformation, tearing and disc energies.
Journal ArticleDOI
