Journal ArticleDOI

Trisomy of the G protein-coupled K+ channel gene, Kcnj6, affects reward mechanisms, cognitive functions, and synaptic plasticity in mice.

TL;DR: The findings suggest that triplication of Kcnj6 gene may play an active role in some of the abnormal neurological phenotypes found in Down syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI

Neuronal profilins in health and disease: Relevance for spine plasticity and Fragile X syndrome

TL;DR: Evidence is provided that the two brain isoforms, profilin1 (PFN1) and PFN2a, regulate spine actin dynamics in an opposing fashion, and that whereas both profilins are needed during synaptogenesis, only PFN3a is crucial for adult spine plasticity, which suggests that PFN1 is the juvenile isoform important during development, whereas PFN 2a is mandatory for spine stability and plasticity in mature neurons.
Journal ArticleDOI

Selective facilitation of LTP in the ventral hippocampus by calcium stores.

TL;DR: There was a striking difference between the two regions in the magnitude of effect of both drugs, as well as the ability to interact with a tetanic stimulation to produce LTP.
Journal ArticleDOI

Juvenile stress alters LTP in ventral hippocampal slices: Involvement of noradrenergic mechanisms

TL;DR: Investigating the long-term effect of juvenile stress on synaptic plasticity in the ventral and dorsal hippocampus of adult, 3 month old rats found that the ventrals expresses a lasting sensitivity to adrenergic modulation, thus likely to affect the emotional response to challenging situations in adulthood.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lasting Differential Effects on Plasticity Induced by Prenatal Stress in Dorsal and Ventral Hippocampus

TL;DR: The differences between DH and VH are summarized and functional and structural effects of prenatal stress in the two sectors are discussed, with the realization that much is yet to be explored in understanding the opposite reactivity of the DH andVH to stressful stimulation.
