In this article we describe an integrated view on knowledge management and networking being a very powerful combination for the future of knowledge management. We start by giving an overview of the increasing importance of networks in the modern economy. Subsequently, we conceptualize a Network perspective on knowledge management. Therefore we firstly give a theoretical foundation on networks, and secondly explain the interdependences between networks and knowledge management. These reflection lead to the development of a framework for knowledge networking, where we distinguish between a micro-perspective and a macro-perspective. Finally, we develop a framework for knowledge networking which can be used as a basis in order to structure and reveal interdependences. We conclude by giving some implications for management and future research.

Purpose – Resource‐and knowledge‐based authors claim that firms should focus on the creation and accumulation of knowledge‐based competencies in order to yield long‐term survival. Several authors have emphasized the added value of alliance relationships in the knowledge development and learning processes of organizations. Der Erfolg von Unternehmen wird kunftig immer starker davon abhangen, inwiefern diese in der Lage sind, Wissen zu generieren und intern zu transferieren. So ist der interne Wissenstransfer hinsichtlich der vermehrten Nutzung von vorhandenem Wissen in Unternehmen, Kostensenkungen und der Fahigkeit, mit Wissen umzugehen, von zentraler Bedeutung. Dieser Beitrag mochte das Verstandnis fur den Umgang mit dem internen Wissenstransfer steigern. Dazu wird zunachst ein Phasenmodell des Wissenstransfers vorgestellt. Anschliessend erfolgt unter Auswertung verschiedener Forschungsstrome die Identifizierung von Faktoren, die den Wissenstransfer beeinflussen. Zudem werden die Bedeutungen dieser Einflussfaktoren in den verschiedenen Wissenstransferphasen diskutiert, um Ansatzpunkte zu erarbeiten, auf welche Faktoren beim Umgang mit dem internen Wissenstransfer in den Phasen besonders zu achten ist.
