The present disclosure relates to devices and processes for monitoring attributes of a user's physical activity (e.g., workout) or inactivity, and to user interfaces (e.g., an activity indicator) for displaying the same. In some examples, a device determines whether physical activity corresponds to a first type based on a first set of criteria, and whether physical activity corresponds to a second type based on a second set of criteria. In some examples, the device controls an inactivity timer that measures user's inactivity. In some examples, the device displays a first visual representation of an attribute or amount of a first type of physical activity, and a second visual representation of an attribute or amount of a second type. In some examples, the device displays a third visual representation of an attribute or amount of a third type of activity. In some examples, the third visual representation corresponds to user's inactivity.

Physical activity and workout monitor

Social networking systems benefit from techniques that improve the ability of users to share online content with other users of a social networking system. In one embodiment, when a user types, pastes, or otherwise inserts a URL, or some other hyperlink, into a message or post to the social networking system, a set of data on the referenced hyperlink target is acquired and stored on a server of the social networking system. The stored data is analyzed, to automatically generate a preview for the hyperlink; and the hyperlink preview is transmitted to the client device for approval. In one embodiment, follow-up actions related to the content are performed when the content is posed, which enables users to perform social graph actions to user nodes and concept nodes related to the message or post. In one embodiment, the shared content is cached on the social networking system.

Generating preview data for online content

The present disclosure generally relates to managing user interfaces associated with physical activities. The user interface displays a scrollable list of affordances associated with physical activities. The affordances may contain physical activity and heart rate information. A user can launch a physical activity tracking function or an interface to change a workout metric using an affordance. Users can also control the music that is played in response to selecting a workout. Further, the interface can be used to compose a reply message to a received message that contains workout information. The interfaces can show a graph that includes heart data when the user's heart rate meets a heart rate alert criteria.

Displaying a scrollable list of affordances associated with physical activities

Received signal strength based device-free localization (RSS-based DFL) is recently gaining momentum as an indoor localization technology, since it enables locating people that are not cooperating with the system by carrying a device. The technology is based on monitoring the signal strength measurements of the many wireless transceivers that are deployed in the monitored area. The measurement modality can be used to accurately localize people and recent works have shown that it can be used e.g. in residential monitoring. Despite the recent advances in enhancing the accuracy of RSS-based DFL, real-world requirements such as energy efficiency and adaptation to the changing communication conditions are often neglected in the related literature. In this paper we present a management framework for RSS-based DFL which enables not only monitoring the environment and network, but to also interact with the dynamic environment and varying wireless channel. With the proposed framework, it is possible to make a considerable step forward so that RSS-based DFL can be used in long-term and real-world deployments.

A management framework for device-free localization

Monitoring of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is a fundamental task to track the network behavior and measure its performance in real-world deployments. In this paper, we present Z-Monitor, a monitoring and a protocol analyzer solution to control and debug IEEE 802.15.4-compliant Low Power Wireless Personal Area Networks (LoWPANs). Z-Monitor does not only support the analysis of well-known ZigBee, 6LoWPAN and RPL protocols, but is also designed to be modular and easily extensible for adding new protocols. The motivation behind the design and implementation of Z-Monitor is the fact that commercially-available products for monitoring and testing IEEE 802.15.4-compliant LoWPANs are mainly too expensive, and typically require special sniffing hardware. Z-Monitor represents a free and extensible solution, does not require special sniffing hardware, and provides comparable services to proprietary and commercial products. We also share our experimental study results that demonstrate the effectiveness of Z-Monitor in meeting its objectives.

Z-Monitor: Monitoring and analyzing IEEE 802.15.4-based Wireless Sensor Networks

The present invention relates to a system and method tracking music or other audio metadata from a number of sources in real-time on an electronic device and displaying this information as a unified music feed using a graphical and textual interface. In one embodiment the invention provides a system and method for sharing such information within a social network or other conveyance system in order to aggregate crowd sourced, location-based and real-time information by combining the location, timestamp and metadata of user's listening history on such an electronic device.

A system and method of tracking music or other audio metadata from a number of sources in real-time on an electronic device

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have attracted significant research interest in recent years because of their suitability to a wide range of real world applications. The envisioned Internet Protocol (IP) support for WSNs requires interoperability with existing management solutions, like Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), in order to provide remote management functionality and assure the correct operation of the WSN. It is essential to provide a network management system that is interoperable with standard network management solutions, customizable, and extensible to various WSN applications. In this paper we present work in progress on our EmNetS Network Management Protocol (EMP), a lightweight and SNMP-compliant IP-based WSN (IP-WSN) management solution. We present detailed operational architecture and a Management Information Base (MIB) which is extensible to IP-WSN applications. We also present implementation details and preliminary results from our laboratory testbed.

EMP: A Network Management Protocol for IP-based Wireless Sensor Networks

The invention provides an apparatus, system and method for the comparison between songs to analyse how similar each song is to the next using a new system of classification. A new and improved method and apparatus for the weighting of these comparable variables between songs in order to find the best objective criteria for finding a likeness between songs is disclosed. The time complexity associated with the computation of the optimal path for smoothing a playlist of songs is substantially reduced using the system of classification.
