In addition to biocompatibility, an ideal scaffold for the regeneration of valvular tissue should also replicate the natural heart valve extracellular matrix (ECM) in terms of biomechanical properties and structural stability. In our previous paper, we demonstrated the development of collagen type I and hyaluronic acid (HA)-based scaffolds with interlaced microstructure. Such hybrid scaffolds were found to be compatible with cardiosphere-derived cells (CDCs) to potentially regenerate the diseased aortic heart valve. This paper focused on the quantification of the effect of crosslinking density on the mechanical properties under dry and wet conditions as well as degradation resistance. Elastic moduli increased with increasing crosslinking densities, in the dry and wet state, for parent networks, whereas those of interlaced scaffolds were higher than either network alone. Compressive and storage moduli ranged from 35 ± 5 to 95 ± 5 kPa and 16 ± 2 kPa to 113 ± 6 kPa, respectively, in the dry state. Storage moduli, in the dry state, matched and exceeded those of human aortic valve leaflets (HAVL). Similarly, degradation resistance increased with increasing the crosslinking densities for collagen-only and HA-only scaffolds. Interlaced scaffolds showed partial degradation in the presence of either collagenase or hyaluronidase as compared to when exposed to both enzymes together. These results agree with our previous findings that interlaced scaffolds were composed of independent collagen and HA networks without crosslinking between them. Thus, collagen/HA interlaced scaffolds have the potential to fill in the niche for designing an ideal tissue engineered heart valve (TEHV).

The present invention relates to a tire equipped with a sensor patch, which includes a sensor module and a sensor patch. The sensor patch is formed integrally with the inner liner of the tire by being vulcanized into the inner circumferential surface, and an accommodation space is formed in a region so that the sensor module can be fixed therein. According to the present invention, a sensor patch is integrated with the inner liner without damaging the inner liner, and thus the sensor patch can be strongly bound to the tire. Furthermore, since the sensor patch is formed to have a thickness smaller than the thickness of the inner liner, when the sensor patch is vulcanized into the inner liner, the pressure of the bladder being exerted locally non-uniformly on the inner liner can be prevented.

The invention relates to a rubber composition and its preparation having a crosslink distribution, particularly at least two types of crosslinks, its preparation, and an article of manufacture, including a tire, having a component of such rubber composition. In one embodiment, such crosslink distribution relates to an inclusion in the rubber composition of an additive to promote the crosslink distribution where the additive itself has a part of the desired crosslink characteristics. The crosslink distribution can be random or in the nature of a gradient change between domains of different crosslinks.

A method of preparing an oil extended styrene/butadiene rubber (SSBR) is disclosed. It comprises blending a soybean triglyceride oil with a cement comprising an organic solvent and a styrene/butadiene rubber (SSBR) and recovering a composite from the blended cement comprising the soybean oil and the SSBR, wherein the soybean oil comprises mixed saturated and unsaturated fatty acid esters, and wherein the unsaturated ester portion of the soybean oil comprises at least 65 percent of oleic acid ester. The soybean oil is a vegetable triglyceride oil comprising mixed saturated, mono-unsaturated and polyunsaturated triglyceride esters of fatty acids having its unsaturated ester content comprising at least 65 percent of mono-unsaturated oleic acid. A rubber composition for use in a tread of a pneumatic tire is disclosed. The rubber composition comprises, based upon parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of rubber (phr): 
(A) elastomers comprising: 
(1) from 82 to 100 phr of a solution polymerization prepared functionalized styrene/butadiene rubber (SSBR) wherein said SSBR is functionalized with a combination of alkoxysilane group and at least one of primary amine and thiol units wherein said rubber has a Tg in a range of from - 40 to -10°C; 
(2) from 0 to 18 phr of a cis 1,4-polybutadiene rubber; 
(B) from 50 to 120 phr of a reinforcing filler comprising silica: 
(C) a coupling agent; and 
(D) from 24 to 50 phr of paraffinic/naphthenic rubber processing oil having a pour point in the range of -80°C to 0°C and a paraffinic oil content of from 30 to 55 weight percent and a naphthenic oil content of from 25 to 50 weight percent. The functionalized SSBR has a bound styrene content in a range of from 10 to 50 percent.
