TL;DR: In this paper, the interface between acrylic acid and polycristalline aluminium at 300 K has been studied by different spectroscopies to determine the adsorption mechanism, and all the data clearly show that acrylic acid is dissociated upon adorption on aluminium, leading to the formation of saturated aliphatic chains directly linked to the metallic surface (CAl bond).

TL;DR: In this paper, the FT-RAIRS experiments were used to specify the chemisorbed state of acrolein and propanoic acid and showed that acrylic acid and MMA are in interactions with the Pt(111) keeping their π-character.
