Impact of disability status on suicide risks in South Korea: Analysis of National Health Insurance cohort data from 2003 to 2013.

< Abstract > Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the attitude of college students toward university students with disabilities and to identify influencing factors. Method: This study was conducted with 270 university students. The questionaire was composed of 5 points scale and total 30 items. Data were analyzed by frequency, correlation, and regression. Results: The average attitude of learning activities was 4.16, the average of daily living attitude was 3.66, and the total average attitude was 3.86. The results were correlated with the number of lectures taken together(once negative correlation, 11 times more positive correlation). Conclusion: Frequent experience of taking classes together of lecturing together encouraged a positive interpersonal relationship and exchanges through academic activity. Therefore, this shows that it positively influences community formation 

Analysis of Attitude and Influencing Factors of University Students Toward the Peer with Disabilities as Community Members

Background: This study examined the moderating effect of emotional support from acquaintances and the mediating effect of disability acceptance in the association between disability-related negative experiences and depression in disabled people with cancer.Methods: Data were collected from 295 participants in the“Disabled-Life Panel Research” conducted by the Korea Disabled people’s Development Institute. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS Windows 26.0 with the PROCESS Macro program 4.0 as a moderated mediating model. Results: Higher disability-related negative experiences caused lower disability acceptance, which predicted higher depression levels. Emotional support played a significant moderating role in this relationship. The effect of negative experiences on disability acceptance was weaker in disabled individuals with cancer who perceived higher social support from acquaintances.Conclusions: These results suggest that focusing on emotional support is important in protecting the psychological health of disabled people with cancer who are alienated from society.

The Role of Disability Acceptance and Emotional Support in the Association between Negative Experiences and Depression in Disabled People with Cancer: A Moderated Mediation Model

Purpose: This research aimed to identify the effects of convergence education and suggest the basic data to nurture innovative and collaborative
human resources by analyzing the differences of the achievement motivation capability and the attitudes toward acceptance
of disabilities of university students between before and after the convergence classes under the title of ‘Understanding Children with
Disabilities’. Methods: The subjects are 127 second year students in five departments regarding integrated education of children with
and without disabilities (department of speech-language pathology and audiology; early childhood education; early childhood special
education; elementary special education; and social welfare) of N University located in G city. The classes were given in the form of
textbook-based curriculum, field trainings (volunteer activities related to the improvement of awareness of disabilities and human rights
of people with disabilities) and special lectures by invited experts by sufficiently reflecting the core principles (autonomy, bridgeability,
contextuality and diversity) of convergence education. Results: As a result of analysis, the score after the convergence class of achievement
motivation capability and attitudes toward the acceptance of disabilities of the university students was higher than the score of
the test before the class, having statistically significant differences. Conclusion: This study holds significance as it discovered that the
convergence class of ‘Understanding of Children with Disabilities’ is a curriculum subject to improve achievement motivation capability
and attitudes toward the acceptance of disabilities of the university students, who are the prospective specialists in education, rehabilitation
and welfare of people with disabilities.

A Case Study of Convergence Classes for Improving Capability of Achievement Motivation and Attitudes toward Acceptance of Disabilities in University Students: Focusing on the Prospective Audiologists, General Teachers, Special Education Teachers and Social Service Workers

The Factors on Acceptable attitudes of health science college students toward People with Disabilities

Objective : The purpose of this study was to examine the factors affecting of depression among persons with disability. Methods : The study examines the factors affecting of depression using age between 18 years old and 65 years old who participated in the korea Welfare Panel data(n=486). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Chi-Square test and stepwise multiple regression with the SPSS 20.0 program. Results : There were significant differences in ADL and IADL scores between normal group and a depression group. The proportion of disabled with adequate ADL and IADL status were greater for persons with disability in the normal group than for those in the depression group. Factors significantly influencing depression were age, degree of disability level, Age of disability Occurrence, and ADL. Conclusion : These results indicate a need to focus on ADL related factors to intervention in depression. Also, depression prevention programs are necessary for persons with disability.
