Journal ArticleDOI

Predictive factors for anastomotic leakage after laparoscopic colorectal surgery.

TL;DR: A careful review of the existing literature on anastomotic leakage found several different definitions of AL which leads to believe that the lack of a consensual, standard definition can partly explain the considerable variations in reported rates of AL in clinical studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Achieving the Learning Curve in Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair by Tapp: A Quality Improvement Study.

TL;DR: The evaluation shows that both trainees fully completed their learning curves for the TAPP after 65 procedures, providing a parameter which can be taken into consideration when establishing the minimum volume necessary to guarantee correct training in laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair by a TAPP technique.
Journal ArticleDOI

Beneficial effects of fibrin glue (Quixil) versus Lichtenstein conventional technique in inguinal hernia repair: a randomized clinical trial

TL;DR: The use of fibrin sealant determined a significant reduction in short-term numbness rate and postoperative pain in inguinal hernia repair and there was no relevant difference in total costs per patient between the two procedures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Learning curve in open inguinal hernia repair: a quality improvement multicentre study about Lichtenstein technique

TL;DR: The number of procedures required to reach the learning curve from the beginning of surgical residency is around 40 hernia repairs, which could be the minimum requirement to start the procedure of accreditation and specialization in hernia surgery and is higher and steeper than previously reported.
