The system and also includes a heating member connected to a fan having a motor and securely mounted in a second housing which is adapted to be mounted in an engine compartment of a vehicle. The system and further includes a heater member being adapted to be connected to a fluid reservoir pump and connected to a second fluid conduit member which is connected to the first fluid conduit member.

Windshield clearing and de-icing system

A windshield washing and deicing system comprising a reservoir for containing washer fluid having a sealed container supported therein. A pump is effective to transfer washer fluid from the reservoir to the container and from the container to a plurality of nozzles located adjacent a vehicle window. A conduit is located in the reservoir for carrying heated engine coolant through the reservoir to heat the washer fluid therein. An electrical resistance wire is provided for further heating the washer fluid in the container whenever the temperature of the fluid in the container is below a predetermined minimum to quickly deice the vehicle window.

Windshield washer and deicer

A line marking apparatus includes a chassis (2) provided with wheels (4) and with means (6) for propelling the apparatus. A line marking head (12) is adapted to dispense line marking material so as to mark a line upon a surface over which the apparatus is moved. A support (14) is provided for the line marking head such that the line marking head is movable laterally relative to the chassis. Lateral movement of the line marking head is controlled by a controller which includes a detector (32) for detecting a beam of electromagnetic radiation indicative of the line to be marked and which also includes control means for moving the line marking head in response to detection of the beam by the detector, whereby lateral movement of the line marking head relative to the chassis is controlled such that the line marking head substantially follows the line to be marked irrespective of whether the chassis deviates from the direction of such line.

Line marking apparatus

A windshield wiper system for an automotive vehicle is disclosed in which the windshield wiper washer fluid is heated and delivered to the windshield through the rubber wiping element. In one embodiment, the windshield wiper fluid is heated to a substantial level of temperature and pressure within a sealed reservoir by the heat from the engine coolant system. In another embodiment, a tubular electrical high intensity heating element with turbulent counter flow is used to instantly heat the windshield wiper fluid, and the heating element is automatically electrically energized in response to fluid flow through the tubular heating element. In another embodiment electrical direct current vehicle power or selectively alternating current external power is used to heat fluid to a substantial level of temperature and pressure within a sealed insulated reservoir. A novel windshield wiper blade is also disclosed in which the wiper blade has a longitudinally elongated fluid chamber formed along its length. The fluid chamber is closed at one end and connected to the source of the washer fluid at its other end. A plurality of longitudinally aligned slits is formed through the wiper blade to the outlet edge to uniformly dispense the heated washing fluid downstream of wipe direction, and onto the vehicle windshield while one or more openings are also formed in the wiper blade to direct a portion of the heated washing fluid to the joints in the wiper support frame to remove ice binding the wiper frame flex joints. Additionally, the dual configuration of the blade edge is such that the second edge pair wears out sequentially to the first edge pair effectively doubling the clean wiping life of the blade.

Windshield heated wiping system

In a preferred form, this disclosure relates to a windshield washer system for washing the windshield of an automotive vehicle. The windshield washer system includes a nozzle means for directing washer fluid against the windshield, a reservoir for containing the washer fluid, a pump assembly having an inlet and an outlet, first and second conduit means for communicating the reservoir with the inlet of the pump assembly and the outlet of the pump with the nozzle means, and a heater means in the form of a conduit means through which heated engine coolant fluid is circulated. The latter conduit means is in heat exchange relationship with the reservoir, the first and second conduit means and the nozzle means whereby the washer fluid is heated while in the reservoir and throughout its path of movement from the reservoir to the nozzle means.
