With the development of the parallel manipulator, inertia matching as an essential factor to realize good potentials of the parallel manipulator is taken serious gradually. However, neither definite inertia index nor inertia matching method has been proposed so far. In this paper, the above issues are discussed by taking the Stewart parallel manipulator as a study object. Firstly, adopting limb Jacobian matrices, the concise algebraic expression of the joint-space inertia matrix of the Stewart parallel manipulator is deduced, based on the dynamic modeling. Next, on the basis of the coupling analysis of the joint-space inertia matrix, the inertia index of the parallel manipulator, the Joint-Reflected Inertia, is proposed. Then, the practical inertia matching principles of the Stewart parallel manipulator are concluded on the basis of simulations, considering multiple factors, such as mechanical resonance frequency, acceleration torque and dynamic performance. Finally, the available range of the motor inertia is deduced, and the inertia matching of the Stewart parallel manipulator is finished as the case study. The inertia index and inertia matching method suggested in this paper can be further used in other parallel manipulators for dynamic analysis and motion system design.

Design and Piloted Simulator Evaluation of Adaptive Safe Flight Envelope Protection Algorithm

This paper proposes a set of Eco-guidelines for supporting designers in developing new greener products and processes. The first requirement that a guideline should have is to be sufficiently general to cover every kind of problem and at the same time sufficiently specific to bring the user closer to the solution without requiring too much personal inspiration. This balance was searched by adopting one of the most known systematic innovation techniques: TRIZ (Russian acronym of Theory of Inventive Problem Solving). In the literature, there are many examples of integrations between Eco-guidelines and problem-solving methods, but the solutions that are suggested, however effective, are not necessarily eco-friendly. To overcome this problem, the authors propose a rigorous ontology indicating how to apply a specific problem-solving strategy onto a specific part of the problem, trying to make the user aware of the environmental consequences of his design changes. The result of this work is a set of 59 guidelines. The article explains the birth of each guideline, the way in which they were adapted with respect to the known technique, and the motivation for which they should generate greener solutions, in light of the results of an experiment involving engineering students in real industrial cases.

TRIZ-Based Guidelines for Eco-Improvement

A multi-domain nonlinear dynamic model of a proportional solenoid valve was presented. The electro-magnetic, mechanical and fluid subsystems of the valve were investigated, including their interactions. Governing equations of the valve were derived in the form of nonlinear state equations. By comparing the simulated and measured data, the simulation model is validated with a deviation less than 15%, which can be used for the structural design and control algorithm optimization of proportional solenoid valves.
