CoFe2O4@SiO2@Dy2Ce2O7 magnetic nanocomposite as recyclable photocatalyst has been prepared for the first time. The cobalt ferrite component was produced through combustion route with the aid of grape juice as novel and green fuel, and the silica component was prepared through sol-gel route with the aid of 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediamine as new basic agent as well as Dy2Ce2O7 component has been synthesized through a modified Pechini route with the aid of 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediamine as novel pH regulator. The as-fabricated CoFe2O4@SiO2@Dy2Ce2O7 nanostructures were characterized by FESEM, DRS, TEM, EDX, XRD, VSM and BET. This is the first try on the survey of photocatalytic efficiency of CoFe2O4@SiO2@Dy2Ce2O7 nanostructures. Role of kind of irradiation source, catalyst loading and kind of contaminant has been described upon improving performance of CoFe2O4@SiO2@Dy2Ce2O7 nanostructures. The results indicated that the fabricated CoFe2O4@SiO2@Dy2Ce2O7 could be potentially utilized as efficient and favorable kind of recyclable photocatalyst for removal of water contaminants.

Preparation of magnetically retrievable CoFe2O4@SiO2@Dy2Ce2O7 nanocomposites as novel photocatalyst for highly efficient degradation of organic contaminants

The tensile property of Al 0.5 CoCrFeNi high entropy alloys heat-treated at 650 °C for 0.5–8 h respectively was executed. The yield strength and ultimate tensile strength reached to 834 MPa, 1220 MPa for 650 °C/8 h heat-treated condition, which was attributed to the nano-sized B2 phase in the interdendritic region and precipitates in the dendritic region.

Characterization of friction stir welded boron carbide particulate reinforced AA6061 aluminum alloy stir cast composite

Dy2Ce2O7 nanostructures were synthesized by the facile salt-assisted combustion method, with Dy(NO3)3·5H2O and (NH4)2Ce(NO3)6 as dysprosium and cerium sources and various amino acids such as L-alanine, phenylalanine, glycine, valine and serine as fuel and capping agents in the presence of sodium chloride as a dispersing agent. Various amino acids as fuel in the presence of sodium chloride as a dispersing agent were employed to fabricate Dy2Ce2O7 nanostructures for the first time. The as-prepared Dy2Ce2O7 nanostructures were analyzed by energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD). According to the morphological investigations of the as-synthesized products, it was found that shape and size of the Dy2Ce2O7 nanostructures are controlled by changing the amino acid type factor. The photocatalytic behavior of as-synthesized Dy2Ce2O7 nanostructures was also evaluated by degradation of methyl orange dye as a water pollutant under UV light.

Novel synthesis of Dy2Ce2O7 nanostructures via a facile combustion route

Using He–Ar mixed gas as shielding gas, the tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding of SiCp/6061 Al composites was investigated without and with Al–Si filler. Welded joint with filler were submitted to tensile tests. The microstructure and fracture morphology of the joint were examined. The results show that adding 50 vol.% helium in shielding gas improves the arc stability, and seams with high-quality appearance are obtained when the Al–Si filler is added. In addition, the interface reaction between SiC and matrix is greatly suppressed when using Al–Si filler. The microstructure of the welded joint displays non-uniformity with many SiC particles distributing in the weld center. The average tensile strength of weld joints with Al–Si filler is 70% above that of the matrix composites under annealed condition.

Investigation on TIG welding of SiCp-reinforced aluminum–matrix composite using mixed shielding gas and Al–Si filler

TiO 2 layer was prepared as a protective coating for AZ31 magnesium alloy by the liquid phase deposition (LPD) method followed by an annealing treatment. The structural evolution and crystallization of coating brought by annealing were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. The corrosion protection performance was evaluated in a three-electrode electrochemical examination system. The anatase TiO 2 layer shows evident corrosion resistance. With the increase of the annealing temperature and prolongation of annealing time, the anticorrosion property was improved. The improvements of the anticorrosion properties were related with the structural evolution of the coating brought by the annealing treatment.

Corrosion protection of AZ31 magnesium alloy by a TiO2 coating prepared by LPD method

Dy2Ce2O7 ceramic material was prepared by solid reaction method at 1600 °C for 10 h. The phase composition, microstructure, and thermal conductivity of this material were investigated. XRD results reveal that single-phase Dy2Ce2O7 with fluorite structure was synthesized successfully. Microstructure of Dy2Ce2O7 was dense and no other unreacted oxides or interphase existed in the interfaces between grains. Because of phonon scattering by oxygen vacancies and difference in atomic mass between substitutional atoms and host atoms, thermal conductivity of Dy2Ce2O7 is lower than that of 8YSZ, which implies that this ceramic can be used as novel candidate materials for thermal barrier coatings in the future.
