An indicator light for a motor vehicle, the light being of the type comprising a substantially point light source (10) and a flat closure glass (20), situated in front of the source, together with beam-forming means for forming a beam of light rays (x'x) propagating along a given general emission direction of the light, said beam-forming means comprising: a generally flat or concave mirror (30) disposed behind the light source and comprising a set of stepped reflecting zones (32, 32, 33) inclined to reflect light rays from the source towards the glass; and a set of deflector zones (201, 202, 203) which are generally in the form of concentric rings on the glass, each zone being formed by a set of narrow prisms all having the same profile within each zone, said profile being designed as a function of the average direction respectively of direct rays and of reflected rays received by said zone.

Shallow indicator light for a motor vehicle

A mirror (14) borne by a cover (34) and an illuminating device (8, 11) are arranged in a shallow housing (1). When mirror (14) is in its position of non-use, cover (34) extends parallel to the main wall of the housing (1). Cover (34) has a U-shaped recess extending from a longitudinal edge to provide clearance for passage of diffusion screen (8) and light rays projecting therethrough. Screen (8) is developed in the shape of a quarter circle corresponding to the dimensions of the recess. The edge region of cover (34) having the recess is articulated to the housing (1). In the bottom of the housing (1) is mounting opening (31) for the individual parts of the illuminating device, and housing (1) is provided with an electric circuit and switch (6). The latter is operable between a first position to turn the light off, a second position to turn the light on or off via a contact in the door of a vehicle wherein housing (1 ) is mounted, and a third position to turn the light on or off by swinging movement of the cover (34).

The signal lamp for a two-wheeled vehicle incorporates a reflector with a number of parabolic reflector zones of differing focal widths and a common focus at which the light bulb is positioned. The reflector zones deflect light in differing directions and each is associated with a corresponding prism or lens zone of the lamp cover. The latter zones cause the incident light rays to be totally internally reflected before exit from the signalling direction. Pref. the lamp cover zones each have a number of prism surfaces which are at least partially curved. The lamp exhibits a max. light intensity in the signalling direction.

An interior lighting fixture, in particular for motor vehicles, has a rocker switch whose operating rocker interacts via latching cams or similar profiles with corresponding grooves or the like of a switch spring. At the same time, the rocker switch is provided with operating cams which can press contact springs against this switch spring. The switch spring therefore has three functions: It keeps the operating rocker mechanically in its bearing and in its switch position and simultaneously ensures the electrical contact to the lamp. For use in motor vehicles, in particular, it is preferred to provide three switch positions, it being the case that in one of these switch positions the lamp is permanently switched off, in a second switch position the lamp is permanently on, and in a third switch position the lamp is switched on only if a door contact is closed.

Lighter light of slimline design, having a lamp arranged transverse to the axis of a reflector and a diffusing lens, in particular for motor lighters, in which there are assigned to the shaded region caused by the lamp cap optical elements with the aid of which the light emitted by the lamp is fed to the diffusing lens. Due to this configuration, the overall depth of motor lighter lights, in particular passenger car lights, can be kept very small while at the same time achieving a high intensity and homogeneous illumination.

A description is given of a reflector for a vehicle signal luminaire whose reflector area is subdivided into partial areas which are symmetrical with respect to the reflector axis and are in each case separated from each other by inactive transition areas which run radially towards the focal point and to the bulb arranged there. The solid angle component of the luminous flux density coming from the bulb is in this case selected for all partial reflector areas (F1, F2 to Fx) to be of equal size. Furthermore, the projections, running in the direction of the reflector axis, of all inactive transition areas (A1, A2 to Ax) onto a projection plane which is perpendicular to the reflector axis (3) are expediently designed to be in each case of equal size. As a result of this configuration, the advantage of a lower overall height can be combined, as regards even illumination of the signal area, with the advantage of non-graded reflectors.

Reflector for a luminaire

The invention describes a luminaire which is suitable, in particular, as a lamp for indicating the riding direction of bicycles, specifically for motor assisted pedal cycles or small motor cycles, since it permits blinking/flashing operation with lamps which are of substantially lower performance and can therefore be adequately supplied by the generators of such vehicles. This is possible because the inventive design of the lamp lens provides an optical system of high light intensity which also guarantees an adequate light intensity for weaker lamps. The optical system consists of optically active elements, which are assigned to the reflector light flux and to the direct light flux, as well as to both these light fluxes, and which effect deflections of the light fluxes in different angular ranges, resulting overall in an image which has an approximately elliptical shape, and offers an adequate light intensity even when, e.g., a 10 watt lamp is used.
