According to W. Edwards Deming, American companies require nothing less than a transformation of management style and of governmental relations with industry. In Out of the Crisis, originally published in 1982, Deming offers a theory of management based on his famous 14 Points for Management. Management's failure to plan for the future, he claims, brings about loss of market, which brings about loss of jobs. Management must be judged not only by the quarterly dividend, but by innovative plans to stay in business, protect investment, ensure future dividends, and provide more jobs through improved product and service. In simple, direct language, he explains the principles of management transformation and how to apply them.

Rapid advances in industrialisation and informatisation methods have spurred tremendous progress in developing the next generation of manufacturing technology. Today, we are on the cusp of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In 2013, amongst one of 10 ‘Future Projects’ identified by the German government as part of its High-Tech Strategy 2020 Action Plan, the Industry 4.0 project is considered to be a major endeavour for Germany to establish itself as a leader of integrated industry. In 2014, China’s State Council unveiled their ten-year national plan, Made-in-China 2025, which was designed to transform China from the world’s workshop into a world manufacturing power. Industry 4.0: state of the art and future trends

With the exponential growth of cyber-physical systems (CPSs), new security challenges have emerged. Various vulnerabilities, threats, attacks, and controls have been introduced for the new generation of CPS. However, there lacks a systematic review of the CPS security literature. In particular, the heterogeneity of CPS components and the diversity of CPS systems have made it difficult to study the problem with one generalized model. In this paper, we study and systematize existing research on CPS security under a unified framework. The framework consists of three orthogonal coordinates: 1) from the security perspective, we follow the well-known taxonomy of threats, vulnerabilities, attacks and controls; 2) from the CPS components perspective, we focus on cyber, physical, and cyber-physical components; and 3) from the CPS systems perspective, we explore general CPS features as well as representative systems (e.g., smart grids, medical CPS, and smart cars). The model can be both abstract to show general interactions of components in a CPS application, and specific to capture any details when needed. By doing so, we aim to build a model that is abstract enough to be applicable to various heterogeneous CPS applications; and to gain a modular view of the tightly coupled CPS components. Such abstract decoupling makes it possible to gain a systematic understanding of CPS security, and to highlight the potential sources of attacks and ways of protection. With this intensive literature review, we attempt to summarize the state-of-the-art on CPS security, provide researchers with a comprehensive list of references, and also encourage the audience to further explore this emerging field.

Steganography, the art of hiding of information in apparently innocuous objects or images, is a field with a rich heritage, and an area of rapid current development. This clear, self-contained guide shows you how to understand the building blocks of covert communication in digital media files and how to apply the techniques in practice, including those of steganalysis, the detection of steganography. Assuming only a basic knowledge in calculus and statistics, the book blends the various strands of steganography, including information theory, coding, signal estimation and detection, and statistical signal processing. Steganography in Digital Media: Principles, Algorithms, and Applications

The Wireless sensor network play a vital role in collecting a Real – Time data, monitoring environmental conditions based on technology adoption. These sensor network is the combination of sensing, computation, and communication through a single tiny device. Here many tiny nodes assemble and configure themselves. It also controls actuators that extend control from cyberspace into the physical world. Here the sensor nodes communicate with the local peers rather than the high – power control tower or base station. Instead, of relying on a predeployed infrastructure, each individual sensor or actuator become part of the overall infrastructure. Here we have three hardware platforms that addresses the needs of wireless sensor netwoks. The operating system here uses an event based execution to support concurrency. The platform serves as a baseline and does not contain any hardware accelerators. . First platform serves as a baseline and it produces Operating system concepts for refining concurrency mechanisms. The second node validates the architectural designs and improve the communicational rates. The third node represents the full realization of the general architecture. Hopefully, this laboratory model would better prepare any computer science department's curriculum to meet the challenges presented by the rapid advancement of telecommunication technology.

The design and implementation of a heterogeneous computer networking laboratory

The pervasiveness and the convenience of information technology tend to make most of society deeply dependent on the availability computers and network systems. As our reliance on such systems grows, so does our exposure to its vulnerabilities. Day after day, computers are being attacked and compromised. These attacks are made to steal personal identities, to bring down an entire network segment, to disable the online presence of businesses, or to completely obliterate sensitive information that is critical for personal or business purposes. It is the responsibility of every organization to establish a reasonably secure system to protect its own interests as well as those of its customers. And as computer crime steadily grows, so does the need for computer security professionals trained in understanding computer crimes, in gathering digital forensic evidence, in applying the necessary security tools, and in collaborating with law enforcement agencies. This paper presents the design and implementation of an experimental Computer Security and Forensic Analysis (CSFA) laboratory and the tools associated with it. The laboratory is envisioned to be a training facility for future computer security professionals.

Computer forensics laboratory and tools

This paper discusses gamification, the application of gaming elements in non-game contexts, with regard to information systems and information security training. The authors have developed gamification tools for use in the classroom as well as several educational games in order to explore the viability of gamified curricula in both high school and college environments. Early results indicate positive student attitudes toward gamified approaches, as well as improved attendance and success rate. Issues encountered in curriculum gamification and game development are described along with best practices for both.
