Water temperature influences viral load and detection of White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) in Litopenaeus vannamei and wild crustaceans

TL;DR: The results indicate that water temperature had a profound effect on the replication rate of W SSV in L. vannamei and a protocol for WSSV screening after thermal stress is proposed, which supports the findings of previous studies and points out to the potential application of environmental temperature as a management strategy to selecting WSSv-free spawning shrimp within the shrimp farming industry in Mexico and possibly in other producing countries.
Journal ArticleDOI

Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone) post‐larval survival related to age, temperature, pH and ammonium concentration

TL;DR: Survival of whiteleg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei 5–30-day-old postlarvae under conditions similar to those encountered during transport from the hatchery to nursery and shrimp ponds was significantly reduced and inversely related to temperature with or without 7 mg L−1 of ammonia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Journal ArticleDOI

Daily variation in short‐term static toxicity of unionized ammonia in Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone) postlarvae

TL;DR: Ammonium toxicity of short-duration alkaline events and their variability, as related to 1-30 day-old postlarvae whiteleg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone), was assessed by determining medium lethal concentration (LC50) of total ammonium-nitroen (TAN) and NH3-N to 4-h exposures.
