Journal ArticleDOI
Water temperature influences viral load and detection of White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) in Litopenaeus vannamei and wild crustaceans
Juliana Righetto Moser,Diego Alvarez,Fernando Mendoza Cano,Trinidad Encinas Garcia,Daniel E.Coronado Molina,Guillermo Portillo Clark,Maria Risoleta Freire Marques,Francisco Javier Magallon Barajas,Jorge Hernández López +8 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that water temperature had a profound effect on the replication rate of W SSV in L. vannamei and a protocol for WSSV screening after thermal stress is proposed, which supports the findings of previous studies and points out to the potential application of environmental temperature as a management strategy to selecting WSSv-free spawning shrimp within the shrimp farming industry in Mexico and possibly in other producing countries.
Journal ArticleDOI
Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone) post‐larval survival related to age, temperature, pH and ammonium concentration
Francisco Javier Magallon Barajas,Rosalía Servín Villegas,Guillermo Portillo Clark,Berenice López Moreno +3 more
TL;DR: Survival of whiteleg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei 5–30-day-old postlarvae under conditions similar to those encountered during transport from the hatchery to nursery and shrimp ponds was significantly reduced and inversely related to temperature with or without 7 mg L−1 of ammonia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efecto de la macroalga Caulerpa sertularioides en el desarrollo del camarón Penaeus californiensis (Decapoda: Peneidae)
Marco Antonio Porchas Cornejo,Luis Rafael Martínez Córdova,Francisco Javier Magallon Barajas,José Naranjo Páramo,Guillermo Portillo Clark +4 more
TL;DR: El efecto de la macroalga Caulerpa sertular ;oides sobre el crecimiento, sobrevivencia y produccion en cautiverio del carnaron cafe Penaeus a temperaturas invernales se estudio en La Paz, Bolivia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Daily variation in short‐term static toxicity of unionized ammonia in Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone) postlarvae
Francisco Javier Magallon Barajas,Rosalía Servín Villegas,Guillermo Portillo Clark,Joaquín García Mosqueda,Berenice López Moreno +4 more
TL;DR: Ammonium toxicity of short-duration alkaline events and their variability, as related to 1-30 day-old postlarvae whiteleg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone), was assessed by determining medium lethal concentration (LC50) of total ammonium-nitroen (TAN) and NH3-N to 4-h exposures.
