Journal ArticleDOI

Frontal copolymerization synthesis and property characterization of starch-graft-poly(acrylic acid) hydrogels.

TL;DR: This work describes the first frontal polymerization synthesis of a graft copolymer superabsorbent hydrogel of acrylic acid onto starch at high monomer and initiator concentration and the ultimate properties of the product appear to depend on the polymerization front velocity and the temperature.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preparation of porous polyacrylamide hydrogels by frontal polymerization

TL;DR: In this article, frontal polymerization was used to synthesize polyacrylamide hydrogels with defined porous structure using NaHCO3 as a foaming agent, and the pore properties were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy and mercury intrusion porosimetry.
Journal ArticleDOI

Frontal polymerization synthesis of starch-grafted hydrogels: Effect of temperature and tube size on propagating front and properties of hydrogels.

TL;DR: The frontal polymerization process was used to produce superabsorbent hydrogels based on acrylic acid monomers grafted onto starch using a simple test tube which was nonadiabatic and permitted contact with air, and the effects of initial temperature and tube size on the propagating front of grafting copolymerization and the properties ofhydrogels were explored.
Journal ArticleDOI

Frontal Polymerization Synthesis of Monolithic Macroporous Polymers

TL;DR: In this paper, a frontal polymerization method is used to produce highly porous polymer monoliths, exhibiting tunable pore volume and a multimodal pore size distribution.
