Journal ArticleDOI
Solid solution strengthening of hexagonal titanium alloys: Restoring forces and stacking faults calculated from first principles
TL;DR: In this article, a series of Ti+X alloys (X = Al, Sn, V, Zr and O) were selected to analyze the impact of solute valence structure and lattice site deformation on the mechanisms responsible for variation of mechanical properties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Failure and deformation mechanisms during indentation in nanostructured Cr/CrN multilayer coatings
TL;DR: In this paper, the microstructure evolution of the nanostructured Cr/CrN multilayer coatings on titanium Ti6Al4V alloy during indentation was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microstructure and mechanical properties of nanostructure multilayer CrN/Cr coatings on titanium alloy
TL;DR: In this paper, five different nanostructured, multilayer coatings (CrN/Cr)x8 with different thickness ratio of Cr and CrN layers were deposited by PAPVD (Plasma Assisted Physical Vapour Deposition) vacuum arc method on Ti6Al4V titanium alloy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Erosion resistance of the nanostructured Cr/CrN multilayer coatings on Ti6Al4V alloy
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the erosion properties of the nanostructured Cr/CrN multilayer coatings on titanium Ti6Al4V alloy and found that the applied surface treatment significantly improves the erosion resistance of the titanium alloy.
Journal ArticleDOI
The tribological properties of nano-titanium obtained by hydrostatic extrusion
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported the results of studies of wear resistance of nano-titanium Ti-Grade 2 obtained by hydrostatic extrusion and examined the tribological behavior with the pin-on-disc tribometer under various lubricant conditions: in dry sliding contact, in normal saline solution (0.9% NaCl), and in paraffin oil.
