Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) inherits the rich chemical fingerprint information on Raman spectroscopy and gains sensitivity by plasmon-enhanced excitation and scattering. In particular, most Raman peaks have a narrow width suitable for multiplex analysis, and the measurements can be conveniently made under ambient and aqueous conditions. These merits make SERS a very promising technique for studying complex biological systems, and SERS has attracted increasing interest in biorelated analysis. Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy for Bioanalysis: Reliability and Challenges

Owing to their excellent multiplexing ability, high sensitivity, and large dynamic range, immunoassays using surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) as the readout signal have found prosperous applications in fields such as disease diagnosis, environmental surveillance, and food safety supervision. SERS-Activated Platforms for Immunoassay: Probes, Encoding Methods, and Applications

Objects in all dimensions are subject to translational dynamism and dynamic mutual interactions, and the ability to exert control over these events is one of the keys to the synthesis of functional materials. For the development of materials with truly dynamic functionalities, a paradigm shift from "nanotechnology" to "nanoarchitectonics" is proposed, with the aim of design and preparation of functional materials through dynamic harmonization of atomic-/molecular-level manipulation and control, chemical nanofabrication, self-organization, and field-controlled organization. Here, various examples of dynamic functional materials are presented from the atom/molecular-level to macroscopic dimensions. These systems, including atomic switches, molecular machines, molecular shuttles, motional crystals, metal-organic frameworks, layered assemblies, gels, supramolecular assemblies of biomaterials, DNA origami, hollow silica capsules, and mesoporous materials, are described according to their various dynamic functions, which include short-term plasticity, long-term potentiation, molecular manipulation, switchable catalysis, self-healing properties, supramolecular chirality, morphological control, drug storage and release, light-harvesting, mechanochemical transduction, molecular tuning molecular recognition, hand-operated nanotechnology.

Nanoarchitectonics for Dynamic Functional Materials from Atomic-/Molecular-Level Manipulation to Macroscopic Action.

Pesticides are essential in modern agricultural practices. Detection of pesticides is an essential step in regulating and monitoring the levels of pesticides in the environment. Even though GC/LC-MS is often the gold standard method for pesticide detection, recent technological advancements has promoted the creation of alternative techniques, such as Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS), that provide added advantages such as ultrasensitive detection, faster turnover, simpler protocols, in situ sampling, on-site capability and reduced cost. In this review, a comprehensive report of recent advances in SERS detection of synthetic chemical pesticides is given. The development and applications of the SERS technique for pesticide detection in both simple and complex matrices are discussed. The main advantages of using SERS for pesticide detection are highlighted, together with its limitations. Lastly, promising future trends and applications of SERS for pesticides detection are also discussed.
