Pharmacological Studies of Artichoke Leaf Extract and Their Health Benefits
Maryem Ben Salem,Hanen Affes,Kamilia Ksouda,Raouia Dhouibi,Zouheir Sahnoun,Serria Hammami,Khaled Mounir Zeghal +6 more
TL;DR: Although research is not yet conclusive, scientists were optimistic that its long-standing use in humans for digestive and bowel problems was indeed justified, and it may also play a role in lowering cholesterol and thus help to prevent heart disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemicals Compositions, Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Cynara scolymus Leaves Extracts, and Analysis of Major Bioactive Polyphenols by HPLC
Maryem Ben Salem,Hanen Affes,Khaled Athmouni,Kamilia Ksouda,Raouia Dhouibi,Zouheir Sahnoun,Serria Hammami,Khaled Mounir Zeghal +7 more
TL;DR: EtOH extract of ALE contained the highest phenolic, flavonoid, and tannin contents and the strongest antioxidants activities and exhibited a maximum inhibition of inflammation induced by Carr for 3 and 5 hours compared to reference group Indomethacin (Indo).
Journal ArticleDOI
Screening of pharmacological uses of Urtica dioica and others benefits.
Raouia Dhouibi,Hanen Affes,Maryem Ben Salem,Serria Hammami,Zouheir Sahnoun,Khaled Mounir Zeghal,Kamilia Ksouda +6 more
TL;DR: The nettle is actually a plant with many qualities and uses, and the interest in it is deserved and it is given by other studies and investigations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Protective effects of Cynara scolymus leaves extract on metabolic disorders and oxidative stress in alloxan-diabetic rats
Maryem Ben Salem,Rihab Ben Abdallah Kolsi,Raouia Dhouibi,Kamilia Ksouda,Slim Charfi,Mahdi Yaich,Serria Hammami,Zouheir Sahnoun,Khaled Mounir Zeghal,Kamel Jamoussi,Hanen Affes +10 more
TL;DR: Ethanol extract from leaves of C. scolymus has anti-hyperglycemic properties, at least partly mediated by antioxidant and hypolipidemic effects, and appears to exert anti-oxidative activity demonstrated by the increase of CAT, SOD and GSH activities in liver, kidney and pancreas of diabetic rats.
Journal ArticleDOI
LC-MS/MS Analysis and Hepatoprotective Activity of Artichoke ( Cynara scolymus L.) Leaves Extract against High Fat Diet-Induced Obesity in Rats.
Maryem Ben Salem,Kamilia Ksouda,Raouia Dhouibi,Slim Charfi,Mouna Turki,Serria Hammami,Fatma Ayedi,Zouheir Sahnoun,Khaled Mounir Zeghal,Hanen Affes +9 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that Cynara leaves exert antiobesity and antioxidant liver effects in HFD-induced obese rats.
