Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Betreiben einer Wasseraufbereitungsanlage (1) zum Abscheiden von gelosten Verunreinigungen aus zugefuhrtem Rohwasser, wobei das Rohwasser durch wenigstens eine Destillationsstufe (8, 9) gefuhrt wird, die einen Dampfabscheider (12, 13) sowie einen Rohwasserwarmetauscher (10, 11) mit einer ersten Warmeubertragungsstrecke und einer mit der ersten Warmeubertragungsstrecke thermisch gekoppelten zweiten Warmeubertragungsstrecke aufweist; wobei das Rohwasser in der ersten Warmeubertragungsstrecke erhitzt und nachfolgend dem Dampfabscheider (12, 13) zugefuhrt wird; wobei aus dem Dampfabscheider (12, 13) entnommener Dampf durch die zweite Warmeubertragungsstrecke gefuhrt und anschliesend in wenigstens teilweise kondensierter Form als Reinwasser abgefuhrt wird; und wobei das Rohwasser stromabwarts der wenigstens einen Destillationsstufe (8, 9) einer Wirbelschichttrocknungseinrichtung (14) zugefuhrt und mittels dieser in einen Bruden und ein trockenes Granulat uberfuhrt wird. Die Erfindung betrifft weiterhin eine Wasseraufbereitungsanlage (1) sowie die Verwendung des Verfahrens zur Aufbereitung von Rohwasser.
