A method and machine for automatically assembling members into a frame and placing fasteners such as nails, staples or the like in a predetermined location includes means to collect the frame members into an assembly, means to move the assembly to be fastened to a work station where it is positioned against retractable stops, and means to position and drive a plurality of fasteners in a first location and to reposition and drive fasteners in at least one other location.

An apparatus for and a method of automatically assembling a body structure of an automobile body, in which side panels are downwardly conveyed into first temporary positions over a floor panel and adjacent jig means, adjusted for proper positions relative to the jig means, moved into second temporary positions, clamped by the jig means, moved from the second temporary positions into final working positions ready to be welded to the floor panel which has been conveyed into a working position thereof, and welded to the floor panel into a unitary structure. The side panels are initially held in positions horizontally close to each other and are gradually moved toward positions horizontally spaced wider from each other as the side panels are conveyed downwardly. The apparatus and method may be modified so that not only the floor panel and the side panels by a cowl-and-dash-panel subassembly and/or a parcel shelf member are assembled together.

Apparatus for and method of automatically assembling an automobile body structure

A method of manufacturing prefabricated sections for buildings wherein metal frames have concrete cast between them which is heated and allowed to harden along a manufacturing line to form floor and wall components. Ceiling components with metal frames and, where applicable, roof components are also constructed in the manufacturing line. At the end of the manufacturing line, the floor, wall, ceiling and/or roof components are connected, form the desired section and moved onto an adjacent assembly line which is at right angles to the manufacturing line without altering the relative disposition of the sections whereby the longer sides of the section which were parallel to the length of the manufacturing line are carried transversely on the assembly line. The sections on the assembly line are connected together in the relationship they will bear in the finished building and doors, windows, panels and the like are added as the connected sections move along the assembly line from adjacent storage areas. Subsequently, the sections are disconnected and transported separately to the building site where they are assembled and connected.

Methods and production lines for the manufacture of prefabricated buildings

A production line and method for the manufacture and assembly of prefabricated box-shaped building sections, the production line having a manufacturing part for the construction of walls, floors, ceilings and roofs which are generally concrete cast in metal frame that were first dipped to render them corrosion-resistant with the concrete thereafter poured from an overhead conveyor to harden inside of and become affixed to the frame. A jig is provided for this purpose. A drying region is next located along the production line to receive the panels from the manufacturing part of the production line. Here, drying of the concrete occurs and panels are stored in storage areas in the drying region to complete the drying and hardening process. Next is an assembly station wherein panels which have been removed from manufacturing jigs are placed in assembly jigs by overhead cranes from directions transverse to the production line, the panels being generally orientated while in drying areas for the position they will occupy in the building section. In the assembly station, the panels are connected, at least in part by welding their metal frames together, to form a basic structural section which is then placed in an extension of the line comprising an assembly part wherein the section is supported by rollers and slowly moved by underlying conveyor chains while the sections are finished by the selected application of plumbing, electrical circuits, heating conduits, appliances, wall coverings, tiles, rugs, and the like, from storage facilities at the side of the production line. Displacement of the sections is prevented by upright guide rims which cooperate with the longitudinal frame beams of the floor panels of the sections.

Methods for the manufacture of prefabricated building sections or room units and factories for the implementation of such methods

A method and apparatus for assembling a multi-panel door. The method includes the steps of fashioning a plurality of rails; fashioning a plurality of panels; fashioning a plurality of mullions; fashioning a plurality of stiles; and preassembling selected rails, selected panels, and selected mullions into sub-assemblies of the door. The sub-assemblies are positioned intermediate a first stile and a second stile in a pre-assembly orientation with the first stile and second stile generally coplanar with the sub-assemblies. The sub-assemblies, the first stile, and the second stile are compressively urged together in two substantially perpendicular axes to create a squared assembly with respect to the two axes. The sub-assemblies are intermediate the first stile and the second stile and are affixed to the first stile along at least a portion of the first stile, and are affixed to the second stile along at least a portion of the second stile.

Method for assembling a multi-panel door

A dwelling is assembled by: building a floor joist framework upside down; installing service fixtures in the floor joist framework and fastening a subfloor to it; framing and covering walls with interior covering; erecting the interior-covered walls on the floor; building a ceiling on a jig above the dwelling; inverting the ceiling jig and lowering the ceiling onto the walls; securing service fixtures to the exposed stud and joist frameworks; trimming, covering, and roofing the dwelling; installing lifting hardware, and transporting the dwelling to its site.
