Oral care devices are provided that include a first component and a second component removably engaged with the first component; the first and second components having a respective fluid passageway extending therethrough, the respective passageways capable of fluid communication while the first and second components are engaged; and at least one of the first and second components including a sealing member constructed to allow fluid communication between the first and second passageways when the first and second passageways are engaged and to close the associated passageway when the first and second components are disengaged. Oral care devices are also provided that include a replaceable and refillable cartridge.

Oral care device

This invention relates to an improved vial transfer assembly or vial transferset which may be attached to a vial under sterile conditions and used to transfer fluid to or from a conventional vial. The transferset includes a tubular transfer member which is sealingly supported on the rim portion of a vial stopper, a piercing member having a piercing end reciprocally supported by an internal surface of the transfer member, a cap enclosing the tubular transfer member and a collar preferably formed of a malleable material which secures the assembly on the stopper, which is crimped beneath the vial rim. The piercing member has a generally longitudinal external channel which, upon piercing the planar portion of the stopper, establishes fluid communication with the vial through the tubular transfer member. The distal end of the tubular transfer member includes a Luer lock for establishing fluid communication to a syringe, IV set or the like. An annular lip on the proximate end of the tubular transfer member stretches and prestresses the central portion of the planar stopper rim and the piercing member is supported in the transferset such that the piercing end deforms the prestressed stopper rim portion.

Vial transferset and method

This hand-held pressurized applicator is very effective to apply medicants to the perio pocket area of the tooth-gum margin. This pressurized applicator can be held and used in any orientation. The medicant is applied at a pressure of greater than about 20 psi, and preferably a pressure of greater than about 30 psi. In one embodiment, there is used a tip that fits into the perio pocket of teeth, and in a second embodiment there is used a toothbrush with the medicant flowing from between the bristles of the toothbrush or through hollow bristles.

Oral care devices are provided that are capable of ejecting an air-liquid combination. In some implementations, the oral care devices include an applicator including a passageway within the applicator for directing the air-liquid combination therethrough; a plurality of brushing elements extending from a base at a head of the applicator to free distal ends, the head being sized to fit in a user's mouth; and a flexible nozzle in communication with the passageway and extending outwardly beyond the base at the head, the flexible nozzle configured to direct liquid droplets of the air-liquid combination beyond free distal ends of the brushing elements during brushing.

According to one broad aspect of one embodiment of the present invention, disclosed herein is a hand held oral irrigation device having a tip for dispensing fluids. In one example, an oral irrigation device includes a body portion, and a reservoir for storing fluids, wherein the body and/or the reservoir define a first major diameter at a lower end of the oral irrigation device, and define a second major diameter at an upper end of the oral irrigation device, the first major diameter being larger than the second major diameter. In this example, by providing such a geometry for the device, a user can grasp the device with one hand about the second major diameter during use. In another example, the body includes a pump for pumping fluids from the reservoir to the tip, wherein the pump includes an inlet valve and an outlet valve, the inlet valve including a reed valve made of flexible fabric material. The outlet valve may also include a reed valve made of flexible fabric material.
