Disclosed is an LCD apparatus having a reduced size and weight. The LCD apparatus includes a bottom chassis having a bottom surface and first to fourth sidewalls. The sidewall of the bottom chassis includes a supporting member for preventing a light guiding plate from being moved and a fixing boss for fixing an optical sheet. The bottom chassis includes a lamp insertion portion for receiving a lamp unit, which is disposed on the third and fourth sidewalls of the bottom chassis. The bottom chassis receives a reflecting plate, the light guiding plate and the optical sheet. A mold frame is coupled to the bottom chassis to fix the reflecting plate, the light guiding plate and the optical sheet to the bottom chassis. A display unit disposed on the mold frame is fixed to the mold frame by a top chassis coupled to the mold frame. Accordingly, a bottom mold frame for receiving a backlight assembly is removed, so that it is able to reduce a cost of the LCD apparatus and a weight thereof.

The LCD device comprises an LC panel having a plurality of pixels defined by a plurality of gate lines and data lines, one or more gate shorting bars disposed outside the LC panel, for applying a test signal to the LC panel through gate lines, first and second data shorting bars disposed outside the LC panel, for applying test signals to odd and even numbered data lines, respectively, an odd numbered data link line connected to the odd numbered data line, and spacing from the first data shorting bar by a predetermined distance, an even numbered data link line connected to the even numbered data line, and spacing from the second data shorting bar by a predetermined distance, and a connection line for electrically connecting the odd numbered data link line and the first data shorting bar with each other, and connecting the even numbered data link line and the second data shorting bar with each other through contact holes, wherein the odd numbered data link line has a length equal to that of the even numbered data link line.

Liquid Crystal Display Device and Method of Fabricating the Same

An image-forming device has a plurality of cylindrical image-carrying members, and an optical scanning unit. The plurality of cylindrical image-carrying members is provided in a main casing for rotating about respective rotational axes. The rotational axes are parallel to one another and juxtaposed in a single direction. The optical scanning unit is provided in the main casing and has a plurality of laser generators, a single rotatable polygon mirror, a plurality of mirrors, and a plurality of lenses. The plurality of laser generators is provided one-to-one relationship to the plurality of image-carrying members to emit respective laser beams. The single rotatable polygon mirror deflects the respective laser beams to scan the respective image-carrying members therewith. The plurality of mirrors is provided one-to-one relationship to the plurality of image-carrying members to guide the respective laser beams along respective optical paths to the respective image-carrying members. The plurality of lenses is provided one-to-one relationship to the plurality of image-carrying members and provided in the respective optical paths and between the respective mirrors and the respective image-carrying members. Distances from the respective mirrors to the respective image-carrying members being equal to one another.

Image-forming device

An LCD backlight (30) comprises generally rectangular parallelepiped light guide (36) with an exit aperture (31) that is smaller than the surface area light guide (36) and illuminates a LCD (49). The light guide is illuminated by a plurality of Light Emitting Diodes (LED) dies (32) disposed along at least one edge of the light guide. A translucent fluorescent film (40) is disposed immediately above the exit aperture to diffuse the light exiting the exit aperture and also the change in the dominant wavelengths. Further, the light guide (36), the LEDs (32), fluorescent film (40), and additional light redirecting layers (42 and 44) are completely surrounded by and optically coupled to a diffusively reflective film (50), which covers the back surface, the edges, and the front surface of the light guide except for the exit aperture. This diffusively reflective shielding is covered by a conventional reflective material layer (51) to ensure no light escapes the backlight except through the exit aperture.

A flat panel display device includes a face plate made of a transparent material, a back plate positioned parallel to the face plate, and a wall member extending between the face plate and back plate to define an airtight housing. An anode is provided on a inner surface of the face plate, a fluorescent layer is provided in association with the anode, and a cathode is provided in association with an inner surface of the back plate. A plurality of struts, made of an electrically conductive screen printed powdery material, are tightly held between the back plate and the face plate, such that an electric charge accumulated between the anode and cathode is discharged by a leakage current flowing through the struts.

PURPOSE: A luminance gradation display method is provided to solve unnaturalness by overlapping a plurality of binary image sub-fields weighted in accordance with the luminance timely. CONSTITUTION: In the method, an order of illuminating the sub-fields is not restricted to an ascending order or a descending order of the weights. On the other hand, there are several ways of redundancy in combining which of the twelve sections of weight in order to show any one of the luminous levels. The combination of the present embodiment is selected with a priority given intentionally to the sub-fields having large weighting so as to incur large deviations of luminous level at low luminous level. Even under such a condition, the picture quality becomes permissible, as stated before, if the primary difference is retained at 6% of the total number of luminous gradations or less.

Luminance gradation display method and image display device

Luminous gradations are displayed to display luminous half tones. This is accomplished by superposing in time wise fashion a plurality of binary images, in which the binary images are individually assigned with a weight according to respective luminous level so that an absolute value of difference ("primary difference") of the weights that are assigned to each of the adjoining binary images becomes equal to or less than 6% of a total number of luminous gradations that are displayed by superposing the binary images, when the binary images are arranged in an ascending order.
