A resin composition for toners which comprises a vinyl copolymer obtained mainly from a styrene monomer and a (meth)acrylic ester monomer, a Fischer/Tropsch wax, and a polystyrene block copolymer, characterized in that the vinyl copolymer has a molecular weight distribution as determined by gel permeation chromatography in which at least two peaks are present respectively in the molecular-weight region of from 5,000 to 20,000 and the region of molecular weights not lower than 500,000, that the wax is contained in an amount of 2 to 10 wt.%, and that the block copolymer is contained in an amount of 0.5 to 5 wt.%; and a toner containing the resin composition.

A water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion ink for stencil printing is provided, which is excellent in emulsion stability and drying, high in printing density and low in blurring and seep through. The W/O emulsion ink has an oil phase and a water phase, in which an acid anhydride containing water-soluble polymer is contained together with a water-insoluble colorant in said water phase. The acid anhydride containing water-soluble polymer is preferably an acid anhydride containing olefin copolymer, more specifically, an isobutylene-maleic anhydride copolymer, or an acid anhydride containing vinyl copolymer, more specifically, a styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer. Preferably, the oil phase comprises at least a solvent and an emulsifier, and the water phase comprises a water-in-oil (O/W) emulsion of resin and/or a water-soluble resin.

The present invention provides a water-soluble film which comprises a modified polyvinyl alcohol containing an N-vinylamide monomer unit in an amount of 1 to 10 mole percent, and a carboxyl group and a lactone group in a total amount of 0.020 to 4.0 mole percent in the molecule, and having a degree of polymerization of 300 to 3000, and a degree of hydrolysis of 75 to 99.5 mole percent. Further, the present invention provides a package obtained by packaging an acidic substance, a chlorine-containing compound, or the like using the water-soluble film.

A receptor medium with a sheet having a random microembossed imaging surface as one major surface thereof. The receptor medium can receive jettable materials, which include inks, adhesives, biological fluids, chemical assay reagents, particulate dispersions, waxes, electrically, thermally, or magnetically modifiable materials, and combinations thereof. The random microembossed medium unexpectedly solves such common inkjet printing problems as feathering, banding, and mudcracking in inkjet printing systems by controlling how an inkjet drop contacts and dries on an inkjet receptor medium and also Moire' effects. Clear lines of demarcation between adjoining colors of a pigmented inkjet image graphic can be obtained without creation of the Moire' effects. Methods of making and using the inkjet receptor medium are also disclosed.

Random microembossed receptor media

PURPOSE: To obtain ink jet recording paper of high resolving power by using a polymer emulsion prepared by the emulsion polymerization of an ethylenic unsaturated monomer or diene type monomer using a polyvinyl alcohol polymer having a mercapto group at its terminal as a dispersion stabilizer as a surface sizing agent or a surface coating pigment binder agent. CONSTITUTION: A polymer emulsion prepared by the emulsion polymerization of an ethylenic unsaturated monomer {e.g. methyl (meth)acrylate} or diene type monomer (e.g. butadiene) using a polyvinyl alcohol polymer having a mercapto group at its terminal as a dispersion stabilizer is used as a surface sizing agent or a surface coating pigment binder. PURPOSE: To uniformly disperse carbon black and to obtain a toner hardly changing static charge characteristic, and capable of obtaining high density image without occurring toner scattering or image fogging by using a specific block copolymer as a main component of a dispersant for carbon black. CONSTITUTION: The dispersant for carbon black essentially consists of the block copolymer consisting of a styrene-based polymer (component A) and a (meth)acrylic ester-based polymer (component B). For instance, an unit originated from a styrene derivative such as styrene, o-methylstyrene and m- methylstyrene is exemplified as a styrene-based monomer unit constituting the component A. An unit originated from (meth)acrylic esters having a functional group such as methyl(meth)acrylate, ethyl(meth)acrylate, propyl(meth) acrylate is exemplified as the (meth)acrylic ester-based monomer unit constituting the component B. Dispersant for carbon black

PURPOSE:To obtain the title material capable of giving artificial leathers of soft touch compared to conventional ones by imparting a fibrous assembly with a specific water-soluble polymer to effect interim setting followed by impregnation of a polymeric elastomer and coagulation and then dissolving and removing said water-soluble polymer. CONSTITUTION:A fibrous assembly (nonwoven fabric, knit fabric, etc.) is imparted with 1-20wt.%, on a solid basis, of a water-soluble polymer, a polyvinyl alcohol >=2000 in polymerization degree and 80-97mol% in saponification degree followed by drying and then impregnation of a solution of a polymeric elastomer such as polyurethane and coagulation. Thence, Said water-soluble polymer is dissolved with water at 60-98 deg.C and removed, thus obtaining the objective sheet.

Production of fibrous sheet-like material

PURPOSE: To provide a pollinosis-allergen removing material which inactivates an allergen causing pollinosis and is useful for masks, curtains, and carpets for preventing pollinosis. CONSTITUTION: Cloths are coated with the aqueous solution of a polyvinyl alcohol copolymer modified with sulfonic acid. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-layer structured polymer particles excellent in elastic recovery and transparency, giving low-hardness molded article excellent in flexibility and mechanical properties, and capable of being molded solely and easily. SOLUTION: The multi-layer structured polymer particles comprising at least two rubber component layers (I) adjacent to each other and formed by copolymerization of a monomer mixture comprising an acrylate and a multifunctional monomer, and a thermoplastic resin component layer (II) that has been formed by copolymerization of a methacrylate and another monomer satisfies the following conditions. (1) The number-average molecular weight of a thermoplastic resin component constituting the outermost layer is at most 30,000. (2) The weight ratio of layer (I)/layer (II) is in a range of 30/70-80/20. (3) The relationship between the solubilities of n-th layer and (n+1)th layer of the adjoining layers (I) satisfies a specific relationship in solubilities of the monomer mixture in water. (4) A specific equation is satisfied between refractive index of the layer (I) and that of the layer (II).
