Journal ArticleDOI

Phase boundaries as obstacle to dislocations motion

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of the stereological parameter termed contiguity on the plastic flow of dual-phase α + β brasses was studied and the Hall-Petch slope was assumed to be a weighted average of the efficiency of grain and phase boundaries as dislocation obstacles.
Journal ArticleDOI

A comparison of a discrete dislocation model and a continuous description of cyclic crack tip plasticity

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the results of the dislocation model and the continuum mechanics in the case of a stationary mode I fatigue crack and showed that both models lead to the same result at high loading levels but they differ significantly for small stress intensity ranges.
Journal ArticleDOI

The isothermal precipitation behaviour in a low-carbon steel at low temperatures investigated by internal friction

TL;DR: In this article, a very sensitive way to assess the state of precipitation in an interstitional alloy with a bcc structure is measured the internal friction at the Snoek peak which is caused by the anelastic relaxation of interstitially dissolved atoms.
Journal ArticleDOI

The decrease of dislocation density during cyclic deformation of prestrained copper single crystals

TL;DR: In this article, deformes de facon cyclique were reported to have an amplitude of 0,7 a 1,5.10 −2 s −1 s − 1.
