A transient voltage surge suppression system incorporating a current protection device comprised of a voltage sensitive and a thermal sensitive device. The voltage sensitive device has a predetermined voltage rating and increases in temperature as voltage applied thereto exceeds its voltage rating. The thermal sensitive device is responsive to heating of the voltage sensitive device to break an electrical current path if an overvoltage condition sensed by the voltage sensitive device exceeds the voltage rating of the voltage sensitive device.

Circuit protection device

A modular base for an electrical device and an electrical device including same and also removable modules are disclosed. The modular base comprises a plurality of base components adapted to be arranged relative to each other to define a backplane comprising a plurality of module mounting locations, wherein each mounting location comprises a first electrical base connector of one base component and a second electrical base connector of another base component. A plurality of removable modules are adapted to be respectively removably connected to the backplane in the mounting locations to provide a modular electrical device. Each of the modules comprises a first module connector adapted to be mated with a first base connector of a mounting location and a second module connector adapted to be mated with a second base connector of the mounting location The backplane comprises one or more coupling devices for releasably engaging a module.

Modular electrical device

An overvoltage protection element with a housing, an overvoltage-limiting component arranged in the housing, and with two connection elements for electrically connecting the overvoltage protection element to the current or signal path to be protected, wherein, normally, the connection elements are each in electrically conductive contact with a pole of the overvoltage-limiting component. Reliable and effective electrical connection in the normal state and reliable isolation of a defective overvoltage-limiting component are ensured by the fact that a thermally expandable material is arranged within the housing in a way that, in the event of thermal overloading of the overvoltage-limiting component, the position of the overvoltage-limiting component is changed by expansion of the thermally expandable material relative to the position of the connection elements in a way that causes at least one pole of the overvoltage-limiting component to be out of electrically conductive contact with the corresponding connection element.

Overvoltage protection element

An electronics module includes a base and a cover connected to the base. The base includes a recess adapted to receive an associated mounting rail. At least one fixed rail constraining tab is located adjacent a first edge of the recess and is adapted to engage a first flange of the associated mounting rail. First and/or second latch arms are located adjacent a second edge of the recess that is opposite the first edge of the recess. The first and second latch arms are connected to a fixed portion of the second edge and project outwardly relative to opposite lateral sides of the fixed portion. Each of the first and second latch arms includes a rail capture tab. The first and second latch arms are selectively movable resiliently to and from latched and unlatched positions, wherein the rail capture tabs of the first and second latch arms project beyond the fixed portion of the second edge and into the recess when the first and second latch arms are located in their respective latched positions, and wherein the rail capture tabs of the first and second latch arms are withdrawn relative to the fixed portion of the second edge when the first and second latch arms are located in their respective unlatched positions. The cover or other portion of the module defines first and second receiving locations that receive and retain portions of the first and second latch arms when the first and second latch arms are located in their respective latched positions.

Integrated DIN rail attachment feature for superior attachment

An electrical component is installed in a plastic cup. The component has two electrical connecting lines, and a parting location that is bridged by a solder metal is arranged in one lead. In addition, a prestressed spring is arranged at the one lead for removing the lead from the parting location during melting of the solder metal as a result of an overload, so that the component is disconnected from a current source. The one lead is pinched to a thickness of 0.2-0.5 mm.

Electrical component with a safety release

The monitoring and safety module uses a varistor element (2) that responds to temp. changes to release a spring loaded contact system when a predetermined temp. is reached. The varistor has contact terminals (3,4) coupled to the system being monitored and a projecting contact (6) is soldered to an element (7) that holds a loaded spring (10) under tension. When the applied voltage is such that the varistor temp. is sufficiently high, the solder melts and the stored energy is released to operate an alarm stage. ADVANTAGE - Provides reliable operating point.

The subject matter of the invention is a mounting plate (1) with fixing means for an electrical device and for a supporting rail (4), which is in the form of a top hat rail and is formed with two bent-back support struts (5), and with at least one holder (6), which is arranged on the rear side (3) of the mounting plate (1), with a bearing section, wherein an elevation (7) made of metal is provided on the rear side (3) for the purpose of clamping at least one bent-back support strut (5) against the bearing section of the holder (6). In order to connect the mounting plate to the supporting rail in a manner in which it is secured against slipping, the elevation (7) is selected in terms of its arrangement, geometry and dimensions and material properties in such a way that it itself is deformed and/or a part of the mounting plate (1) which is connected to it is deformed when the bent-back support strut (5) is clamped.

The connector (10) has terminal rails (22, 24, 26) connected with each other such that the terminal rails are arranged in T-shape.
