TL;DR: In this paper, the proton spin-lattice relaxation time T 1 was studied and it was shown that pyridine molecular motion occurs at a rate ≈ 108 s−1 at 300 K and persists to very low temperature, while in TaS2(Py) 1 2 the motion is expected to be slower.
Abstract: The proton spin-lattice relaxation time T1 shows that in NbS2(Py) 1 2 pyridine molecular motion occurs at a rate ≈ 108 s−1 at 300 K and persists to very low temperature, while in TaS2(Py) 1 2 the motion is expected to be slower. In TaS2(Py) 1 2 , and also in NbS2(Py) 1 2 at high magnetic fields H > ≈ 5 kOe, (T1)−1 is roughly prportional to the temperature T, which is indicative of a dominant contribution from electronic interactions between the metallic layers and molecules at least above 80 K. Below 80 K, (T1)−1 is well described by a universal curve in the T/H plot and, then, (T1)−1 increases rapidly in the superconducting state. An analysis of these results below 80 K suggests that the longitudinal dipolar fluctuations resulting from the RKKY interaction between eventual magnetic impurity spins play an important role.
