A test station for testing the performance of an automotive Forward Looking Sensor (FLS) in detecting one or more targets in a predetermined scene within the field of view of the FLS. The test station includes a chamber having a first end at which the FLS is disposed and a second end at which a Transmit/Receive Test (TRT) system is disposed. The TRT system includes an antenna array responsive to an RF signal transmitted by the FLS and a Transmit/Receive (TR) processor for processing the received signal in order to simulate the predetermined scene and for transmitting the processed signal back to the FLS. The TR processor includes at least one Transmit/Receive Radio Frequency (TR RF) processor module for processing the received RF signal by selectively shifting the frequency and/or adjusting the amplitude of the signal.

Automotive forward looking sensor test station

A dual-mode target seeking apparatus having a seeker dome defining an aperture and transmissive to microwave frequency energy of a first frequency and to light wave energy at a second frequency and at a third frequency. An optics system within the seeker dome is transmissive to the microwave frequency energy reflective to the light wave energy received via the aperture. A first detector receives the microwave frequency energy via the aperture, and a second detector images a target by the light wave energy of the second and third frequencies via the optics system.

Dual mode target sensing apparatus

The present invention relates to an electromagnetically anechoic chamber for EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) tests of electronic devices. The floor, ceiling and side wall of the anechoic chamber have panels of electromagnetic wave absorber having many ferrite tiles, and shield members comprising double layered shield members of copper sheets and iron sheets for absorbing and reflecting the foreign electromagnetic wave.

Electromagnetically anechoic chamber and shield structures therefor

Systems and methods for simulating electromagnetic environments to be encountered by a moving object such as a missile (14) are disclosed. The systems include compact ranges in 'hardware in the loop' ('HIL') simulating as projection system (10) to provide a cost- and space-efficient way for testing the performance of missiles and other objects. The systems disclosed may include mobile (62) or stationary (146, 150) compact ranges and may use lenses (70) or reflectors (186) in connection with an array (170) of one or more feed horns (66) to convert spherical or 'near field' wavefronts to plane waves within designated 'quiet zones'. If mobile ranges are employed, such ranges may be mounted on the flight tables (82) used for repositioning the missile seekers during the simulations. Also disclosed are systems for varying the amplitude and phase characteristics of the energy provided to an array of two or more feed horns in order to vary the apparent angle of received electromagnetic energy at electronic speeds. Typically, the number of feed horns used in varying the apparent angle of arrival is small (e.g. three). However, the small group may be part of a larger array in which switching is used to select one or more groups.

Apparatus and methods for simulating electromagnetic environments

The device includes an array of antenna systems which send to a target seeking radar scene simulation signals synchronized with target seeking signals from the target seeking radar. Each of the antenna systems receives control signals which it uses to adjust the scene simulation signals. For FM/CW target seekers, the antenna systems mix the control signals with the target seeking signals. For pulse target seekers, the antenna systems mix the control signals with an illumination signal provided from an illumination radar.

Radar scene simulator

An active millimeter wave simulator for missile seeker evaluations wherein a missile seeker generates seeker signals and transmits them in the direction of an array of active antenna elements. Range timing signals are delayed in a time delay circuit to simulate a range between the missile seeker and a target. The seeker signals as received by the active antenna elements are supplied to a millimeter wave spectrum analyzer for determination of their frequency. A computer receives the determined frequency and controls a millimeter wave source to generate simulated target response signals with that same frequency but delayed in accordance with the time delay signal. The computer controls a master target control circuit to select a triad of antennas in the antenna array and to generate a phase center in the triad generating the target response signals. The millimeter wave spectrum analyzer further determines the frequency of the target response signals. The computer compares the frequencies of the target response signals and the missile seeker signals and controls the millimeter wave source to ensure correspondence between those frequencies.
