A consistent Riccati expansion (CRE) is proposed for solving nonlinear systems with the help of a Riccati equation. A system having a CRE is then defined to be CRE solvable. The CRE solvability is demonstrated quite universal for various integrable systems including the Korteweg–de Vries, Kadomtsev–Petviashvili, Ablowitz–Kaup–Newell–Segur (and then nonlinear Schrodinger), sine-Gordon, Sawada–Kotera, Kaup–Kupershmidt, modified asymmetric Nizhnik–Novikov–Veselov, Broer–Kaup, dispersive water wave, and Burgers systems. In addition, it is revealed that many CRE solvable systems share a similar determining equation describing the interactions between a soliton and a cnoidal wave. They have a common nonlocal symmetry expression and they possess a formally universal once Backlund transformation.

Consistent Riccati Expansion for Integrable Systems

With the inhomogeneities of media taken into account, under investigation is hereby a generalized variable-coefficient forced Korteweg-de Vries (vc-fKdV) equation, which describes shallow-water waves, internal gravity waves, etc. Under an integrable constraint condition on the variable coefficients, in this paper, the complete integrability of the generalized vc-fKdV equation is proposed. By virtue of a generalization of Bells polynomials, we systematically present its bilinear representations, Backlund transformations, Lax pairs and Darboux covariant Lax pairs, which can be reduced to the ones of some integrable models, such as vcKdV model, cylindrical KdV equation, and an analytical model of tsunami generation. It is very interesting that its bilinear formulism is free for the integrable constraint condition. Besides, researching the Lax equations yield its infinitely conservation laws, all conserved densities and fluxes of them are obtained by explicit recursion formulas. Furthermore, by considering its bilinear formulism with an extra auxiliary variable, we present the soliton solutions and Riemann theta function periodic wave solutions of the equation. According to the constraint among the nonlinear, dispersive, and line-damping coefficients, we further discuss the solitonic structures and interaction properties by some graphic analysis. Finally, the relationships between the periodic wave solutions and soliton solutions are presented in detail by a limiting procedure.

On the Integrability of a Generalized Variable‐Coefficient Forced Korteweg‐de Vries Equation in Fluids

A supertrace identity on Lie superalgebras is established. It provides a tool for constructing super-Hamiltonian structures of zero curvature equations associated with Lie superalgebras. Applications in the case of the Lie superalgebra B(0,1) present super-Hamiltonian structures of a super-AKNS soliton hierarchy and a super-Dirac soliton hierarchy.

Darboux transformations and global solutions for a nonlocal derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation

We present algebraic construction of Darboux matrices for 1+1-dimensional integrable systems of nonlinear partial differential equations with a special stress on the nonisospectral case. We discuss different approaches to the Darboux-Backlund transformation, based on different lambda-dependencies of the Darboux matrix: polynomial, sum of partial fractions, or the transfer matrix form. We derive symmetric N-soliton formulas in the general case. The matrix spectral parameter and dressing actions in loop groups are also discussed. We describe reductions to twisted loop groups, unitary reductions, the matrix Lax pair for the KdV equation and reductions of chiral models (harmonic maps) to SU(n) and to Grassmann spaces. We show that in the KdV case the nilpotent Darboux matrix generates the binary Darboux transformation. The paper is intended as a review of known results (usually presented in a novel context) but some new results are included as well, e.g., general compact formulas for N-soliton surfaces and linear and bilinear constraints on the nonisospectral Lax pair matrices which are preserved by Darboux transformations.

Algebraic construction of the Darboux matrix revisited

The Darboux transformation approach is one of the most effective methods for constructing explicit solutions of partial differential equations which are called integrable systems and play important roles in mechanics, physics and differential geometry.

This book presents the Darboux transformations in matrix form and provides purely algebraic algorithms for constructing the explicit solutions. A basis for using symbolic computations to obtain the explicit exact solutions for many integrable systems is established. Moreover, the behavior of simple and multi-solutions, even in multi-dimensional cases, can be elucidated clearly. The method covers a series of important equations such as various kinds of AKNS systems in R1+n, harmonic maps from 2-dimensional manifolds, self-dual Yang-Mills fields and the generalizations to higher dimensional case, theory of line congruences in three dimensions or higher dimensional space etc. All these cases are explained in detail. This book contains many results that were obtained by the authors in the past few years.
