A linear gate drive assembly with a drive rail connectable to a gate panel. The drive rail has a first drive surface. Since the Cornu's spiral comprises a similarity, when a pressure angle is determined, the tooth profile can be standardized by module and can provide high usability. The application of the gear can be further increased by replacing the portions of the addendum and the dedendum of the gear with other curves such as circular arcs. The engagement of the gear is always performed by the surface contact of a projected surface on a recessed surface. Accordingly, since a contact surface pressure is low and the radius of curvature of the dedendum is large, the bending stress of the teeth of the gear is low and the fatigue strength thereof is also high. Even if the number of teeth is low, undercut does not occur in the teeth of the gear. Since the gear can be smoothly engaged without backlash, it can be suitably used for apparatuses for which accurate positioning is requested.
