PURPOSE: To improve the wear resistance of a ring by forming a composite plated Ni layer contg. prescribed hard and fine particles on the surface of the flange of the ring contacting with a traveler. CONSTITUTION: In order to improve the wear resistance of a ring for a spinning machine, a composite plated layer is formed on the surface of the flange of the ring contacting with a traveler. The composite plated layer consists of an electroplated Ni layer 2 formed on the base metal 1 and a composite plated hard layer 3 formed on the layer 2 and contg. hard and fine particles 4 deposited in an Ni alloy as the matrix. Ring for spinning machine

PURPOSE:To improve the wear and seizing resistances of a sliding member by forming a composite layer contg. hard particles dispersed under prescribed conditions in the Ni matrix contg. a prescribed percentage of P on the sliding surface by plating. CONSTITUTION:A composite plating bath is prepd. by suspending 5-40g/l hard particles of 0.5-10mum average particle size in an Ni-P alloy electroplating soln. of 0.3-3pH contg. 5-130g/l nickel chloride and 5-30g/l phosphorous acid. The sliding surface of a sliding member is plated in the composite plating bath to obtain a sliding member having a composite layer contg. 5-30vol% hard particles of 0.5-10mum average particle size dispersed in the Ni matrix contg. 5-12% P.

Wear resistant sliding member and its manufacture

PURPOSE: To obtain a composite plated film having a stable composition and a uniform thickness by dispersing insoluble fine particles in a plating soln. contg. Ni salt and hypophosphite and by applying a DC voltage between a body to be plated and an insoluble anode at a prescribed current density. CONSTITUTION: 20g/l Insoluble fine particles of silicon carbide or the like are dispersed in an aqueous soln. contg. 30g/l Ni salt and 25g/l sodium hypophosphite. A body to be plated and an insoluble anode are set in the soln., and a DC voltage is applied at 0.1W1A/dm 2 current density while agitating the soln.
