A bearing system for a turbocharger shaft includes an elongated bearing carrier with two anti-friction ball bearings mounted in its ends and with a radially extending flange at one end that cooperates with stationary housing portions and carries thrust loads of the rotor in both directions. The elongated bearing carrier is supported within the housing by axially spaced elastic supports which permit the rotating assembly to rotate about its mass center and provide a shock and vibration cushion. The elongated bearing carrier and housing cooperate to provide a coolant cavity which communicates with the outside periphery of the elongated bearing carrier between the axially spaced elastic supports, which also act as coolant seals between the elongated bearing cavity and the bearing housing. The coolant cavity protects the bearing system and anti-friction ball bearings from heat conducted from the exhaust gas-driven turbine and also cools the housing. In addition, an externally mounted motor-generator may be carried by the turbocharger and its rotor may be connected to the turbocharger rotor by a coupling that stays connected throughout the entire operating speed range of the turbocharger, and the motor-generator electronic control is mounted on the motor housing, which is cooled by air being drawn into the turbocharger compressor.

Bearing system for high-speed rotating machinery

A fluid dynamic bearing device which exhibits high bearing performance at low cost has a highly accurate bearing gap. At least a region in the outer circumferential surface of a shaft, which faces the radial bearing gap, is constituted of an electroformed part, and the region of the shaft excluding the electroformed part is constituted of a resin portion.

A wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member formed with double row outer raceway surfaces on its inner circumferential surface. An inner member includes a wheel hub with a wheel mounting flange integrally formed at one end and a cylindrical portion axially extending from the wheel mounting flange. At least one inner ring is fit onto the cylindrical portion of the wheel hub. The inner ring is formed with double row inner raceway surfaces on its outer circumferential surface. The double row inner raceway surfaces are arranged opposite to the double row outer raceway surfaces. Double row rolling elements are rollably arranged between the outer and inner raceway surfaces, via cages. A seal is mounted on one end of the outer member. The seal has integrally formed side lips adapted to be in sliding contact with the wheel hub. The base of the wheel mounting flange is formed to have a curved surface, in cross-section, of a circular arc. The seal has three inclined side lips each extending radially outward from the seal body. The lips are adapted to be in sliding contact with the base of the wheel mounting flange. Interference of the side lips against the base of the wheel mounting flange is set so that the radially inner side lip has a smaller interference than that of the radially outer side lips, in order.

Wheel bearing apparatus

A super-turbocharger utilizing a high speed, fixed ratio traction drive that is coupled to a continuously variable transmission to allow for high speed operation is provided. A high speed traction drive is utilized to provide speed reduction from the high speed turbine shaft. A second traction drive provides infinitely variable speed ratios through a continuously variable transmission. Gas recirculation in a super-turbocharger is also disclosed.

A hub unit with a sensor comprises a hub unit 1 including a body-side raceway member 3, a wheel-side raceway member 4 and two rows of rolling elements 5, and a sensor device 2. The sensor device 2 includes a magnetostrictive sensor 8 for detecting the inverse magnetostrictive effect, and the magnetostrictive sensor 8 is mounted to the body-side raceway member 3 so as to be capable of measuring the tensile strain in the uppermost part of an inner wheel 17 of the wheel-side raceway member 4. From the output of the magnetostrictive sensor 8, the tire grounding load and the rotational velocity are detected.

The rolling bearing with a built-in motor includes a bearing part including an inner ring, an outer ring and a plurality of rolling elements, and a motor part including a stator and a rotor for driving and rotating the inner and outer rings of the bearing part with respect to each other. In the rolling bearing, the bearing part includes a first bearing ring having a cylindrical-shaped inner fixing portion formed in one end face of the inner ring so as to be coaxial therewith, and a second bearing ring having a cylindrical-shaped outer fixing portion formed in one end face of the outer ring so as to be coaxial therewith. When viewed in the radial direction of the rolling bearing, the stator and rotor are interposed between the inner fixing portion of the first bearing ring and the outer fixing portion of the second bearing ring.

A disc drive device includes a rotational assembly which is adapted to mount a disc thereon and is rotatably driven by a motor. The rotational assembly is rotatably supported on a support assembly by a radial hydrodynamic fluid bearing and a thrust bearing. An axial load is applied to the thrust bearing by a magnetic attractive force of up to 30N and is greater than a dead weight of the rotational assembly.

A transmission 3 is provided between a propeller that catches wind to rotate and a generator 5 which is a friction roller transmission of the wedge type functioning as a speed increaser whereby a structure with good generating efficiency is realized with low noise for use in a normal home etc.

A high-speed fluidic device has a friction roller type speed-increasing mechanism, an electric motor, and a high-speed fluidic machine, wherein: the friction roller type speed-increasing mechanism includes a housing, a low-speed side member having an outer ring provided at one end portion thereof, a high-speed side shaft rotatably supported by the housing so as to be eccentric to the low-speed side member and the outer ring, at least one guide roller rotatably supported between the outer ring and the high-speed side shaft, and at least one movable roller rotatably supported between the outer ring and the high-speed side shaft; the electric motor drives the friction roller type speed-increasing mechanism; and the high-speed fluidic machine is connected to the high-speed side shaft so as to be driven by the high-speed side shaft.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing unit and a thin motor for journaling the same shaft by a pair of bearings, and having a small shaft directional dimension. SOLUTION: In this bearing unit 1, the outer diameter of an outer ring 7 of the second bearing 3 positioned inside the first bearing 2 is constituted smaller than the inner diameter of an inner ring 6 of the first bearing 2. The inner ring 6 of the first bearing 2 and the inner ring 8 of the second bearing 3 are integrally held by an inner ring holder 11, and an outer ring 5 of the first bearing 2 and the outer ring 7 of the second bearing 3 are integrally held by an outer ring holder 10. An engaging part between the outer ring holder 10 and the outer ring 5 is put in a state of being mutually relatively movable in the shaft direction. A disk spring 9 is interposed between the outer ring holder 10 and outer ring 5, and the disc spring 9 is installed so as to apply a constant-pressure preload in the shaft direction of the first and second bearings 2 and 3.
