TL;DR: In this article, an efficient enantioselective oxidative coupling of 2-naphthol derivatives based on a concept of dual activation catalysis was realized, and a chiral dinuclear vanadium(IV) complex (Ra,S,S)-1e possessing (S)-tert-leucine moieties at the 3,3′-positions of the (R)-binaphthyl skeleton was developed, which was found to promote the oxidative coupling.

Abstract: An efficient synthetic method for chiral (isoxazole–isoxazoline) ligands based on a spiro[4.5]decane framework has been developed. A variety of enantiomerically pure ligands were readily prepared via the Suzuki–Miyaura coupling. The palladium complexes of these ligands have proven to be effective catalysts for the asymmetric Wacker-type cyclization of an alkenyl alcohol.
