Compositions, systems and methods that allow for the detection of the actual physical delivery of a pharmaceutical agent to a body are provided. Embodiments of the compositions include an identifier and an active agent. The invention finds use in a variety of different applications, including but not limited to, monitoring of therapeutic regimen compliance, tracking the history of pharmaceutical agents, etc.

Helicobacter pylori is known to cause or be a cofactor in type B gastritis, peptic ulcers, and gastric tumors. In both developed and developing countries, a high percentage of people are infected with this bacterium. The present invention relates generally to certain H. pylori proteins, to the genes which express these proteins, and to the use of these proteins for diagnostic and vaccine applications. Specifically, molecular cloning, nucleotide, and amino acid sequences for the H. pylori cytotoxin (CT), the 'Cytotoxin Associated Immunodominant' (CAI) antigen, and the heat shock protein (hsp60) are described herein.

Helicobacter pylori proteins useful for vaccines and diagnostics

The present invention relates to antifungal and antibacterial activity of processed Morinda citrifolia products, as well as from various fractions of extracts from these processed products and the Morinda citrifolia L. plant, and related methods to determine mean inhibitory concentrations. In particular, the present invention relates to ethanol, methanol and ethyl acetate extracts from Morinda citrifolia L. and their inhibitory activities on common fungi and bacteria and the identification of mean inhibitory concentrations.

The compounds of the invention are useful as a therapeutic agent for peptic ulcers which is also effective on prevention of the recurrence after discontinuation of the administration due to the antimicrobial activity against Helicobacter pyroli.

Thiourea derivatives and antimicrobial agent and antulcer agent containing the same

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject medicine containing an extract of dried root of a specific plant, having antihelicobacter pylori action and effective as a preventing agent and treating agent for upper alimentary diseases, especially peptic ulcer, etc. CONSTITUTION: This medicine contains an extract of dried root of Morinda citrifolia (Japanese name: YAEYAMAAOKI, a dicotyledon belonging to the family Rubiaceae). Furthermore, the extract is preferably obtained by pulverizing e.g. 200g of the dried root and stirring the powder with 2.0l chloroform for 2hr and filtering the mixture and extracting the powder. Anti-helicovbacter pylori medicine containing extract of dried root of morinda citrifolia

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject medicine containing the extract of Garcinia mangostana L., having an anti-Hericobacter pylori action, and therefore useful as a medicine for treating especially peptic ulcer, gastritis, etc., and as a medicine for preventing the relapse of the peptic ulcer, the gastritis, stomach cancer, etc. CONSTITUTION: This medicine contains the extract of Garcinia mangostana L. The extract is obtained e.g. by a method comprising extracting the dried pericarps, sarcocarp, seeds, barks or leaves of the Garcinia mangostana L. with water, chloroform or methanol, filtering the extract mixture, and evaporating off the solvent from the filtrate under vacuum. Anti-hericobacter pylori medicine containing extract of garcinia mangostana l.

PURPOSE: To obtain a medicine containing a xanthone derivative, etc., having a Hericobacter pylori-resistant action and effective for the therapy of upper alimentary canal diseases such as peptic ulcer, gastritis and stomach cancer. CONSTITUTION: This medicine contains a xanthone derivative of formula I (R1 , R2 are H, methyl), xanthone I of formula II, galtanin of formula III or egonol of formula IV. The medicine is administered at a dose of 0.10-3000mg (preferably 1-1000mg) per day for an adult in one to four portions. The medicine is desirably orally administered but can intravenously be injected. The compounds of formulas I-IV are mainly extracted from the dry rinds of Garcinia mangostana L. (Dicotyledones, Guttiferae), but also obtained by synthetic methods.

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject medicine, containing a specific xanthone derivative and useful as a preventing and therapeutic agent for diseases in upper gastrointestinal tracts, e.g. peptic ulcer or gastritis regraded as being caused by the infection with Helicobacter pyroli. CONSTITUTION: This medicine contains a xanthone drivative represented by formula I (R1 R4 are each H, a lower alkyl, a lower alkyloxycarbonyl or an acryl), e.g. 3,6-O-dimethyl-α-mangostin. Furthermore, xanthone derivatives represented by formula II and III [R3 and R5 or R4 and R5 , together, are converted into a cyclic form and dC(CH3 )2 -(CH2 )2 ] are preferably used as the derivative and obtained by passing, e.g. α-, β- or γ-mangostin through alkylation for reaction with dimethyl sulfate.
