Patent
Optical device, and virtual image display device
Hiroshi Mukawa,Katsuyuki Akutsu +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a virtual image display device with an optical waveguide to guide, by internal total reflection, parallel pencil groups meeting a condition of internal total reflections was presented. But the authors did not specify the conditions of the external reflection.

Head-mounted display apparatus
Hiroshi Mukawa,Akio Funanami +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a head-mounted display apparatus includes an image display, a wearing device with which the image display device is worn on a head of an observer, and an attachment member attached to the wearing device.
Journal ArticleDOI
A full-color eyewear display using planar waveguides with reflection volume holograms
Hiroshi Mukawa,Katsuyuki Akutsu,Ikuo Matsumura,Satoshi Nakano,Takuji Yoshida,Mieko Kuwahara,Kazuma Aiki +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a full-color eyewear display with over 85% see-through transmittance with a 16° horizontal field of view was developed, where two in-and out-coupling reflection volume hologram elements enabled a simple configuration that has an optical engine beside the user's temples.

8.4: Distinguished Paper: A Full Color Eyewear Display using Holographic Planar Waveguides
Hiroshi Mukawa,Katsuyuki Akutsu,Ikuo Matsumura,Satoshi Nakano,Takuji Yoshida,Mieko Kuwahara,Kazuma Aiki,Masataka Ogawa +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a full color eyewear display with over 85% see-through transmittance and 2500cd/m2 brightness was developed, with very low color crosstalk and less than 0.008 Δu'v' uniformity.
