A shadow mask material consists essentially (in per cent by weight) of 0.10% or less of C, 0.30% or less of Si, 0.30% or less of Al, 0.1 to 1.0% of Mn, 34.0% to 38.0% of Ni and 0.01 to 1.0% of one or more additional elements from the group comprising Ti, Zr, B, Mo, Nb, N, P, Cu, V, Mg, Co and W, the remainder being iron and unavoidable impurities. The invention also relates to a shadow mask produced from a material of the composition given above and having a grain size number of 5.0 or higher.

An austenitic stainless steel and a manufacturing process therefor are disclosed, in which, instead of the expensive Ni, there are added Cu as an austenite (τ) stabilizing element, and tiny amounts of Ti as a ferrite forming element and B for improvement of high temperature hot workability, so that the optimum Md30temperature and the optimum delta-ferrite content can be controlled, thereby improving the formability, the season cracking resistance, the hot workability and the high temperature oxidation resistance, and reducing the surface defects during the hot rolling and saving the manufacturing cost by reducing the content of Ni. The austenitic stainless steel according to the present invention includes in weight %: less than 0.07 % of C, less than 1.0 % of Si, less than 2.0 % of Mn, 16-18 % of Cr, 6.0-8.0 % of Ni, less than 0.005 % of Al, less than 0.05 % of P, less than 0.005 % of S, less than 0.03 % of Ti, less than 0.003 % of B, less than 3.0 % of Cu, less than 0.3 % of Mo, less than 0.1 % of Nb, less than 0.045 % of N, the balance of Fe, and other indispensable impurities. Thus the present invention improves the press formability, the season cracking resistance, the hot workability, and the high temperature oxidation resistance.

PURPOSE: To increase the rate of etching of low-C 'Invar(R)' alloy and to improve the suitability to piercing by etching by adding a very small amount of Cr to the alloy and controlling the amount of O in the alloy. CONSTITUTION: This material for a shadow mask consists of, by weight, ≤0.030% C, 0.01W0.30% Si, 0.1W1.0% Mn, 0.1W1.0% Cr, 35.0W37.0% Ni, ≤0.005% O and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The etchability is improved by the very small amount of Cr added, and the formation of oxide inclusions in reduced by the controlled amount of O. A weldable ferritic stainless steel and a method for producing the same is provided wherein the steel consists essentially of up to 0.03 carbon, up to 0.05 nitrogen, 10 to 25 chromium, up to 1.0 manganese, up to 0.5 nickel, up to 1.0 silicon, 0.03 to 0.35 titanium, 0.10 to 1.0 niobium, optionally up to 1.2 aluminum, the balance essentially iron, the amounts of titanium and niobium varying inversely and not more than necessary to satisfy specific thermodynamic equations and the method includes casting the steel into ingots or slabs without the precipitation of detrimental intermetallic or nonmetallic titanium compounds so that the hot-rolled band gauge, without grinding, can be cold rolled to final gauge sheet or strip free of open surface defects.

Ferritic stainless steel

A method of producing a ferritic stainless steel strip having reduced intra-face anisotropy as well as excellent r value and anti-ridging characteristics. The method involves subjecting a ferritic stainless steel slab to a hot rolling step including rough rolling having at least one rough rolling pass and a finish rolling having at least one finish rolling pass, followed by a hot-rolled sheet annealing, pickling, cold rolling and finish annealing. At least one of the passes in the rough rolling is conducted with the rolling temperature between about 970 to about 1150°C, the friction coefficient between the rolls and the rolled material of about 0.3 or less, and the rolling reduction ratio between about 40 to about 75%.

Low carbon martensite stainless steel as material for disk brake of motorcycle

PURPOSE: To obtain a high-toughness high-Mn steel with superior weather and rust resistances, by adding specified amounts of C, Mn, Si, Cr, Cu, Al and N to steel so as to regulate the weather and rust resistance index, AR value to a specified value or above. CONSTITUTION: To steel are added, by weight, 0.1W1% C, 16W35% Mn, 0.2W3% Si, 0.5W18% Cr, 0.01W2% Cu, 0.01W7% Al and <0.3% N, and the weather and rust resistance index, AR value represented by the equation is regulated to ≥3wt%. High toughness high-mn steel with superior weather and rust resistance

PURPOSE: To improve the resistance to weld high temp. crack of Fe-Ni invar alloy as a material for LNG vessel without exerting bad influence upon low thermal expansion and mechanical preperties, by adjusting O content and cleanness to a level not higher than a specific value, and by reducing the contents of impurities, P, S, as low as possible. CONSTITUTION: Fe-Ni invar alloy, which is used as a material of vessels for transportation or storage of LNG, is composed of 30W45% Ni, ≤0.04% C, 0.05W0.35% Si, 0.10W0.40% Mn, <0.0030% O, and has ≤0.05% TISGO555 cleanness (d). Said invar alloy is so adjusted that the values (P), (S) are in the oblique line range of figure, where a relation (P)+(S)<9×10 -3 is satisfied.
